Ron,
I think there is a humongous environmental issue here and nothing seems to work to awaken the the world to it. I do not understand.
Do you?
scratch
Yes, I agree with you that something is happening, and whether or not this is a part of a natural
cycle, or completely manmade, or more likely a combination or these to things, it's more than
past time to start erroring on the side of caution with a real plan that is actually focused on the
environment. The Green Shift just wasn't it, as it's goal was vote purchasing and not environmental
change. Something Canada can implement would be focused on regions by province and would
be similar in concept to the green shift in theory
BUT the money collected in Ontario would stay
in Ontario and be directed (beyond what would be needed to administer the thing) to real and
actual change or pure research towards change.
Leave the social engineering experiment alone.
Money collected in Alberta stays in Alberta for the same reason....same with every other province.
Competition is always a good thing. Competitions being held between provinces as to who can do
the most in the shortest amount of time. National advertising directed towards inducing pride in
these provincial competitions....just like the NHL or CFL except that each person can do their part
to contribute and eventually same themselves $$$ and help to error on the side of caution with
respect to environmental change. Sharing in idea's interprovincially giving credit like a handicap in
golf in the competitions. Sale of ideas and research results (technology, etc...) outside of Canada
for cold hard cash.
The rub is that countries that where behind in technology while the western world was racing along
financially while leaving a monstrous pile of garbage (on,in,& above the ground) in its wake. I'm
thinking of China, India, etc...will tell us to blow it out our backsides unless it's financially advantageous
for them to utilize the ideas and technology we develop. That's where the real genius would come into
play and where I pass the ball back to you Scratch. We need to develop technologies that not only help
to reduce our garbage, but by utilizing these idea's a country saves money and becomes more efficient.
Now it's your turn Scratch to take this idea and either build on it or rip it to shreds, and with the pieces
we'll see where that leads. I'm sure there's some really bright guys out there like yourself or Dexter Sinister
or Tonington who can come up with a much better (or well thought up) idea than I've just done.
