This story will make a good negative ad for Turdoh's opponents.

If you have nothing good to say about yourself, I suppose the best alternative it to drag your opponent down with you.

I still think the charities need to be examined!!! CEO's are paid significant dollars to raise funds that is their job, if they aren't doing it, there's a problem.

Blame the charity, not Trudeau. It wasn't up to him to assess whether the charity's money was being well spent by engaging his services.

That's quite separate from the issue of whether he should have been giving paid speeches as a sitting MP.

If they hadn't paid the money he wouldn't have made the speech, however, they agreed to pay him, and he agreed to speak at the fundraiser. It turns out that the said fundraiser didn't make the expected money even though people were happy with the speech given. A year later they want their money back. Trudeau initially refused to return his fee and rightly so. Anyway, Trudeau has now agreed to return his fee. I wonder how this will effect the charity's ability to contract with other speakers to speak at their future fundraisers?

Didn't you know It's more evil to raise funds for charities than have corruption in the PMO.

I doubt any Canadians want to boink Harper.

In some respects Trudeau went above the call of duty in giving the money back. Kudos to him for that. Of course there seems to still be the debate of whether he should have charged to begin with. But here the debate is one of definitions of appropriateness, conflict of interests, etc. not outright criminality or unquestionable conflict of interest or inappropriateness. This is something trudeau could easily wiggle out of by simply arguing that the rules are not clear on this one and in his case it would be totally legitimate. He'd even checked beforehand and was given the go ahead. On that front alone his hands are clean.

Is he the only MP that charges to speak at events?

The number is quite low. One speaks to Environmental groups and such as she was working in the field prior to election. But fees when they reach a certain level have to be declared - Not sure on that but I recall that from a recent radio broadcast.
They had a piece on Chuck Adler last week and I was getting a drive to pick my car up at the dealer. That is what the driver was listening to and I only caught bits and pieces.

Just watched this Azz hole on Question Period, interviewed by Peter Newman of CTV.

This jerk, who made a speech on behalf of a charity event, only said he would with them (the charity) to make it right.. Wtf does that mean???, it means he's not going to give it back if he can avoid it.

When the interviewer said he also gives speeches but he NEVER charges for a charity event. When he asked jerk head, if he would do the same, he only repeated that he would make it right... Yeah yeah jerk head !!!

This jerk head only got invited to speak because the Canadian taxpayer is paying him because he is a Lib leader. Now this jerk head is using the taxpayer as a stepping stone to pocket money for himself.. What an idiot!!

Any MP paid by the Taxpayer should not be charging charities to help them out. They are already paid by the taxpayer!! Once is enough!!
