Wouldn't it make more sense to vie for the vote of those who only vote when pissed off? Give people something to be happy about and you'll easily get their damn vote.

The federal Liberals really don’t have to worry since their leadership convention isn’t until 2013 so the Conservative attack machine really doesn’t know who to go after which is a good strategy for the Liberals so the NDP the official opposition which will have a new leader next week will be the focus of the Conservative attack ads

One might think that one of the Liberal MPs might be leader or someone might come in later that has a better track record who is not an MP so the Conservative attack machine just can’t focus on who might be leader so their attack ads will be ineffective.

I am so suprised a party who have been accused of election misdeeds (wrongly according to their base) would launch attack ads so soon. I suppose their big heads are smarter by half and by their own reckoning.

What you guys soooo conveniently forget:

EVERY one of the major parties has been accused of "election misdeeds".

Conservative ads target Bob Rae's NDP economic record

Interim Liberal leader Bob Rae's economic record as NDP premier of Ontario in the 1990s comes back to haunt him in a black-and-white television attack ad the Conservative party will air in key markets starting Tuesday.

The ad shows a grinning Rae chuckling under his breath as a narrator recites his record of leaving Ontario with the "highest income taxes in North America ... the biggest deficit Ontario ever had ... most job losses since the Great Depression" and how he "turned Ontario into the welfare capital of Canada."
That's not an attack ad. That's a history lesson.

Yeah, but so far "buddies in bad times" theatre hasn't gotten a grant from the conservatives! Another of Bobby boy's haulmark moments.

Thank you CPC, for bringing the rest of the House to your level.

These Republican tactics are bad for all of us.

"You want to have a fight? Let's have a fight," said Rae when asked about the TV ads.

"My colleagues at the party will be asking Canadians to contribute financially to our response," said Liberal spokesman Daniel Lauzon in an e-mail. "The scale of that response will depend on how generous Canadians will be in our appeal to fight back."

The NDP is preparing a “significant” ad campaign to promote its new leader before the Conservatives get a chance to taint Canadians' first impressions with attack ads of their own.

The new leader, to be chosen Saturday, will have to approve the plan but the idea is to beat the Tories to the punch.

Since the federal Conservative party are using the government web sites for political advertising I wouldn’t be surprised if they are borrowing taxpayer money to pad the Conservative party war chest that produces the attack ads.

The opposition parties should demand a forensic audit of the Conservative party to make sure that they are not using taxpayer money as a bottomless pit for their political activates
