Comments from the US about the Cold

Windchill was -41 F this morning. Didn't feel all that bad.

We where -41c (=-42F) without the wind chill this morning, and -57c (=-71F) with
the wind chill. It sucked. It took me about 3 blocks to get up to about 45km/h
(warming up the motor doesn't warm up an automatic transmission) and 4-5 blocks
before my front strutts seemed to have any spring to them.

A 16yr old Pontiac 2.0L (122cu.in.) of cold & tired motor doesn't put out much
heat at the best of times. That motor will warm up well by about April though....
I think I heard that we were the coldest place in North America about 6am...

Hey, at least it started.

Lotta wimps around it seems. I'm in Regina too, and I can vouch for Ron's numbers. The last 6 weeks have been singularly unpleasant, temperatures routinely well below -30, windchills into the -40 to -50 range, and every time it "warms up" to more seasonal temperatures we get high winds and another 5-10 cm of snow. But I can dress for it, and I have a snowblower. How do you dress for hurricanes and earthquakes? They don't happen here. Take your pick. I like it here.

Somebody needs to explain to me again about global warming though... :-?

I don't know how you guys do it. Your most certainly brave! I can't imagine trekking my butt to work everyday at those temps!!!

We don't usually get the prolonged cold snaps you folks get out west.

But:: Right now it's -32 and it's DAMP!!. We do get that couple times a year for about 4-5 days each. Usually around the middle of Jan. and middle of Feb, mostly during the full moon...........frozen werewolves all over the place.........nasty!!

Mehhhhhhh, plug in the car and dress fer it, eh.

Definitely would not trade it for living in "tornado alley" or "the hurricane belt".

Try this for cold

I think I'm gonna need a bigger ice scraper.

Oh yeah, and it's pretty cold here in the HRM.... I think when I got up for work it was -25 c. with a windchill of -37 c.

Not fun..... esspecially when all your nose hairs freeze up and make you feel like you got strands of cotten shoved up your nose...... then you go back in where it's warm and it all thaws and you got your lips and mouth full of snot.

Yeah I know.... charming.
