With my dyslexia I kept reading his name as "Spitting at the sky" which would not be a very wise thing to try..
Actually his name sounds like a medicine name given to him for spiritual power. Hard to say but I can see how a none native might feel threatened by it.
I thought names like that had to be based on some observation in nature at the time of their birth?
There are a lot of different nations in the Americas and they all have their own ways and reasons for names. Childhood names usually only apply until they are initiated into adulthood, after their vision quest. Then they are usually given a name that refers to their vision but that is not always the case.I thought names like that had to be based on some observation in nature at the time of their birth?
None of the natives I have met do drugs during vision quest. it is about fasting for four days in the wilderness by themselves. Few snot nosed white kids would survive that.If you fib and say you didn't have a vision can you get more Mescaline. My name would be Car Won't Start

I was a snot nosed white kid, when I came to Canada by myself. I was beaten up and left for dead by some well fed natives in Geraldton.
There were times when I had no food for four days. I survived, because I learned to WORK, and support myself without free-loading and being on tax-free status. And, needless to say, I NEVER did drugs, other what doctors prescribed.
I wish your heroes learned the same.
What did they get off you? They wanted me dead and thought I was. Too stupid to know any better. Story of their lives.

No, lone wolf, I did not have a chip on my shoulder then, nor do I have a chip on my shoulder now. But maybe you do.
