Despite Climate Change Vow, China Pushes to Dig More Coal

EcoSuckaaaas!
You might be interested to know that China is also building more wind farms and solar farms than the rest of the world combined. And guess what, they have developed a technology that originated in the US, but the Chinese have perfected, a method of burning coal without causing pollution, a technology BTW that the US abandoned. Certainly it is digging more coal, but it is also making an effort to free itself from that fuel.
Here is a recent reference. China goes from red-alert pollution to green energy - World - CBC News
They have tremendous reserves of coal. We'd be doing the same if we had vast coal fields like that.

There is a very interesting documentary detailing China's green energy programs. It was made about 5 years ago so I am guessing that it is even farther ahead on its plan to clean up the environment. If you want to watch it here is the link
For most of my life ive been digging a hole to China.
Yeah but they are burning more fossil fuel than ever and I don't think the climate counts wind farms and solar panels if you believe that climate change malarky.
If they are so advanced... why do they have until 2030 to start cutting emissions?
Actually it doesn't matter what the climate treaty says. China started its green energy program a decade ago, mainly due to the fact that the Chinese simply don't like breathing dirty air or drinking polluted water. Who could have imagined that? And yes, China has a long way to go to match the environmental standards of nations like the US and Canada, but then again it started a century or so behind in industrial development. The interesting thing about the latest environmental treaty is that China asked for more time to comply to the new environmental standards, but has been much faster than required.
Yet they are digging even more coal and bringing even more coal plants on line. They are burning more fossil fuels than ever. China will always ask for more time and the weaklings in the environmental community will bow to that.
They asked for more time because they would never bend to Western Environmentalist. The West gave them more time because they knew China will never play ball. And they will never play ball unless it is in their interest.
I find it humorous for anyone to think China is behind anyone but the US in industrial development. And that is only going to be for a short time. China absolutely buries Canada when it comes to industrial capacity.
They started their plan a decade ago... yet their cities are still prone to be covered in smog.
China will still have its lights on and its economy running whilst we in the West grind to a halt and be plunged into darkness due to not being able to keep our electricity on because we rely too much on windmills.
I think I have already answered the digging more coal comment. As for the smog-covered Chinese cities I answered that as well. You are right that China really doesn't care much about what the rest of the world thinks, but it does listen to the millions of Chinese citizens who have complained about pollution. Google: "Chinese citizens protests pollution" and you will see what I mean.
China will still have its lights on and its economy running whilst we in the West grind to a halt and be plunged into darkness due to not being able to keep our electricity on because we rely too much on windmills.
So I just googled it... they protested in 2007, 2009, 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015, and they have protested in 2016. I am sure there were more but these are the ones I could find.
So here we are in 2016 and China is going to be ADDING Coal Plants and they have until 2030 to check themselves.
Anyhow... good luck carrying China and India's burden... the US is out!
I'm afraid you still don't get it. Try googling China's green energy and perhaps it will become more clear. Of course China is still using coal fired plants - it needs them to expand its economy, but it is also expanding its green energy programs with a view to phasing out coal. In the last five years China has created more green energy projects than the rest of the world combined. It still has a long way to go, but it is moving in the right direction. If you want a comparison check out how long it took European nations and the USA to phase out coal-generated power - Oh wait, you can't - they haven't done it yet.
They have a huge industrial complex, a massive and highly capable military, and even a manned space program. The capabilities of China dwarfs your country's capabilities and they have your country (and others) poised to carry their burden until 2030.What you have to understand is that it takes considerable time to change over to new technology. The problem is called industrial inertia and it refers to the fact that it is easier to stay with what you have rather than switch to something new. If you want a historical example check out how long it took to replace the horse as a means of transport. It is not well known, but the supplies for the mighty German army were mostly moved on horses during World War II. Ditto for the Russian army.
