Because according to his promise repeated ad nauseum, he will support their cause.

I fail to see the downside of someone who promises to put the will of the people ahead of his own beliefs. It's what good leaders do. Trudeau did it, he put his own Catholic beliefs aside for the issue. As usual however, he just took it way too far with his arrogance and virtue signalling by forcing his members to change their stance on the matter or GTFO.
