Well, I assumed it was something do with fishing, but that could be just me relating to the word "squid." I can't remember the context in which it was used, as it was a few years ago that I heard the term. Let's go with your definition unless someone from the East Coast can shed some more light on it...thanks, Karrie.

Oh... see... I assumed you were talking slang. If you're talking about actually fishing, then, it's literal. You jig for squid, like you'd jig for pike or perch.

(btw, the more I type the word 'jig' the dirtier it sounds, and I'm starting to think jigging your squid could have many meanings).

Anybody know what a "squid jigger" is? I've only heard it said down east, but don't know the meaning...

As well as what Karrie said, it's fishing "jig" used to catch squid. (You said that, Karrie, didn't ya. Sorry. Having an SJ moment) Or, a person who uses said jig in the act of catching squid.

Google the "squid jiggin ground".........neat ol Newfoundland song.

That should give you a midi file for the tune as well. It's in the "Great Canadian Tune Book", online.

'flatlander' would be someone from the prairies.

My favorite insult is 'Upper Canadian', which is sometimes said 'Uppity Canadian', to refer to that bizarre Toronto attitude.

Ah, let's see now...how to put this one...

"As frisky as a mink in heat" - used to describe someone who is experiencing amorous feelings. (Just trying to be polite here...)
