Ask Romeo D'Allard about "peace keeping" under the UN auspices; I would NEVER send any of our troops into any peace keeping or any other activity under the UN - that's simply condoning suicide!! With the UN itself being so corrupt, the fact that Trudeau is even considering peace keeping is disgusting!!

I can't see Canada simply saying no to the UN if they want us as peace keepers.

On the other hand I can't see Canada ever getting itself into another Somalia situation. Surely to God we learned our lesson.

They were thinking about Mali, possibly because we have Francophone troops available
Close your eyes and try to imagine the Vandoos disarming Boko Haram.

That Is how the Brits extracted themselves from extreme embarassment in Suez. Lester B. even earned a noble prize.

One of the most amazing things in history is that in WWI, a war in which Canada had basically no stake, the Brits whistled, and y'all threw an entire generation into a meat grinder just on conditioned reflex.

The Aussies did, too, for even less reason, but they consider war fun.

But that was 100 years ago, and Canada was young and stupid. Most Canadians now know the Brits are 'much ado about nothing'.

What's even more amazing is while the British were demobbing their "New Army", they ordered the Canadian Corps to Russia to support the White Russian cause. It was almost 1920 before those mere colonials saw their homeland agaon.

The farmboys out west were particulary versed at handling teams hauling big piles of artillary to the front and piles of bodies back to headquarters.

Wee won the first world war which made Hitler. Have you remembered that?

The tech upswing when yer under pressure is many times worth the sacrifice, war speeds up the flow of money and where flow chokes appear war should be liberally applied to enhance and accellarate the gain.

The day we joined NATO to be exact and the tasks before them were PR stunts rather than it ended up being a long term help.
Nonsence, we destroyed the Soviets.

My Great Uncle (8th generation Ontario farm boy) was a mule skinner who limbered artillery from Courcelette to Mons and everywhere in between
He was born.in 1900, btw

He and his son were Belgian breeders.

What's worse than having a Brit in an outhouse?
Having two Brits in an outhouse, arguing about where to put the bed.

What do you call a smart Englishman?
Jacques, parce qu'il serait français. (Jacques, because he would be French.)

That is easy.

I can picture them collecting AKs off of dead bodies.

If that was what we were sending them there for, I'd approve.

Unfortunately, UN "peacekeepers" in Mali walk around with no set military objectives and big targets painted on their backs.

Farm boys are the best of course. He was a very good man wasn,t he. I hope he came home. Lots of times though they can.t come home even if they survive the carnage. How many really good guys have the pricks who run earth just ground up in thier gears. I can't really get my head arround those millions, but we have the interweb now and no doubt these altercations can be avoided in the future. however the excitment of reconsterution looms on the horizon,

Brave men indeed, peace keeping however is not for armies.

Money trumps armies most of the time.
