Harper desperately tried to change the subject to the economy which is grossly insensitive to the issue - especially considering the forum for this debate.

The economy pretty well trumps all other issues and most other issues affect the economy to some degree, so Harper was probably making sense. Global warming means f**k all if there's no food on the table..

Climate change may make it hard to grow food in many areas that we have relied on to supply our food. Having money when there is no food is kinda pointless. Whatever the cause of these changes, things are changing and it is time to stop the arguing about the cause and try to head this train wreck off at the pass.

I'm not sure we know yet what it is we are trying to head off! How much of it is a natural phenomenon and how much is human caused? I imagine a little of each, but I'm not sure. I do agree it wouldn't hurt for humans to clean up their act. I've even amended my habits a tiny bit in the past 5 years. I walk more now where I used to drive. I use water a little more sparingly. Talk later, I'm headed for the sack.

Stand up for the plain truth from cowards and pacifists, win a new sword made from newsprint, that will scare the bad guys.
everyone who knows anything knows Isis is funded armed and guided by the US blaster and its little master
"Secret Pentagon Report Reveals US "Created" ISIS As A "Tool" To Overthrow Syria's President Assad"

except for those that think denial is a river in Egypt
but since there is a new country in the sandbox that can't aggress on it own nor pay for itself, Canada has to pay and shed blood for the devil itself.

vote peace...as any kindergarten teacher will tell you: its the adult thing to do

"Antarctic Sea Ice Reaches New Record Maximum"

"The control-and-tax proponents would have you believe that our planet has been enduring unprecedented global warming (now coyly referred to as “climate change”), but the facts do not bear that out. Facts. Oh, those damnable facts....
...Created by Cuffy and Clow in 1997, and based on Greenland ice core records, this chart shows global temperatures for the past 15,000 years.
You’ll see that today’s benign climate is not even close to being the warmest on record. Not even close.Temperatures have been warmer than today for almost all of the past 10,000 years. In fact, if the chart went further back, you’d see that temperatures have been warmer than today for most of geologic history.I sat just ten feet from Dr. Don Easterbrook, Professor of Geology at Western Washington University as he presented this chart, along with several of his own, at the Heartland Institute’s 4th International Conference on Climate Change in Chicago last week."
Temperatures were warmer than today for most of the past 10,000 years - Ice Age Now

global warming is now climate change...so what is a carbon tax actually going to do if as reality shows: it ISNT global warming...and never was a man made issue...
were the seas not supposed to be 20 feet higher by now?

the carbon tax is the issue
oh and as we just saw with the volksvagen shcamdal: POLUTION
and RADIATION from Fukushima
say why did harper close down the rad network on the west coast?
and why do i need a microscope to see the RECESSIONARY canadian dollar?
Canadian economy in recession, GDP figures confirm
"Statistics Canada reports GDP fell in second quarter, indicating economy was in recession in first half of 2015."

You should check out a combination of the 'pacific blob' and the 'expanding earth' theme to start a concept of the type of climate change that is happening. (ice age in eastern NA and drought in Calif and BC get to have the weather Calif had.

As I Understand it we are having el ninos because of the solar lunar action, and the volcanic action of tens of thousands of undersea volcanoes triggered by the confluence of a lot of natural cycles
so yeah imho; the blob idea at least is closer then the man made theory.
The moisture it takes to make snow and land ice has to evaporate up from somewhere

but to buy the idea a tax will fix that...?
has a tax ever fixed anything?

The NDP and liberals seem to be riddled with conspiracy theorists, I suppose that makes sense considering the children that vote for them seem to believe in the same fairy tales.

Funny. Cons believe only Harpo can save us from his imaginary terrorists. If that isn't believing in fairy tales... How is that being any more mature?

I wouldn't say it's a rule or that "riddled" is quite the correct word, but that trait is definitely present to some extent, methinks! :) :)

You think that d ink who beheads reporters isn't a terrorist?

Having watched the Liberals stand down our defences at the height of the danger during the Cold War, I am deeply suspicious that they are not capable of defending us at this point in history, either. Beating your swords into plowshares doesn't take into account that the other guy is still forging swords in large numbers.

Plowshares? Handy items. The hard part is training your yaks to attack. Attack yaks are invaluable.
