Ex-presidents Clinton, W. Bush share Toronto stage
4 hours ago

TORONTO (AFP) — Ticket sales for a "conversation" here Friday between Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, the 42nd and 43rd US presidents, were reportedly less than hoped for, but protesters are expected at the event en masse.

The two former leaders will share a stage for a 90-minute discussion about global and domestic challenges facing the United States and Canada, moderated by Frank McKenna, a former Canadian ambassador to Washington.

Hundreds of protesters, meanwhile, are expected outside the convention centre where the event will be held at 3:30 pm (1930 GMT). They will roll out a giant "not welcome" mat and throw shoes at a picture of Bush, according to protest organizers.

"Bush is kind of a lightning rod for a lot of things that are wrong, and so I think people want to express that," Nadine MacKinnon of the Coalition to Stop the War told public broadcaster CBC.
"We are not expecting to get Bush's attention by this," she explained. "We are expecting to engage the public."

"It's the people that will put the pressure on the government to affect any real change."

The daily Globe and Mail reported ticket sales for the event did not meet expectations of organizers Power Within, with as many as 500 of 6,000 tickets still unsold hours before show time.

In addition several people who bought tickets for 229 to 595 dollars (209 to 543 US dollars) were apparently trying to unload them online at a discount, said the newspaper.

After their on-stage talk, Clinton and Bush, both 62, are to field questions from the audience.
Clinton and Bush's father have joined efforts for philanthropic causes and global assistance initiatives, but this is believed to be Clinton and George W. Bush's first public appearance together since both left office.

Bush is a war criminal. He should be brought to the ICJ at the Hague and tried for starting an unprovoked war of aggression which has killed 1 million people and displaced 5 million. (20% of Iraq's population).

Unlikely that the Iraqi people will ever have justice. In the meantime, you can throw your shoes at Bush here:

Sock and Awe!
(sort of like whack-a-mole)

I think Bush is a war criminal too and should be tried as such. Unfortunately I doubt that will ever happen.

We'll just keep plucking African leaders out and sending them to the Hague and going to fancy dinners to hear our own leaders denials. I suppose most people have to accept them or their own stereotypical view "my country is great" might be called into question.

The fact is every country is ruled by a filthy little enclave of despots. It's just some look better because they have bigger guns, make the rules, and their people are better brainwashed.

The US be damned. They`ve no escaping their coming punishment. Its just a matter of time.

My concern is Canada being dragged into their folly by hosting their ilk to speak about `whats good for us`.

Get the **** back south of our border and take every god damned Canadian sympathizer with em so as they all meet the fate coming to them in one place.

Rather harsh don't you think? All Clinton ever did was screw a couple of secretaries which while perhaps unhealthy is hardly a crime and junior doesn't have the mental capacity necessary to form criminal intent. Sill the best way to sow what u think of them is to stay away in droves AKA ignore.

Did I suggest something wrong that offended you?
I do remember this - Do you?

I`ve nothing but disrespect for those who choose to kill and get killed for another nations lies, 9/11 be damed. We all know why 9/11 occured. It was inevitable because of US foreign policy, not Canadian policy. For this nation to put the lives of those in uniform at risk for the folly of another`s, is sick and twisted and deserving of disrespect.

"We will never forget" seems to be the latest slogan, yet ask any of those fools waving their little Canadian flags, the names of the last 2 or 3 paraded home and they`d more than likely look at you like you were from another planet.

..be paraded through TO`s east end bringing the total to what now, 120?

What a sick ****ing society we live in.

Sending those poor bastards over there for dubious reasons (based on American lies) then draging thier corpses back home in this fashion labeling them `heros` for doing America`s dirty work.
Excuses for this atrocity from our gov oficials, such as `restoring democracy to the region` one day and the next, `preserving our freedom/lifestyles` were lame from the beginning but about now getting tiresome, if not insulting to the average Canadian with half a brain.

Worse, do I have to listen to those goddam annoying bag-pipes on a weekly basis for the next two years??

Bush and Clinton are going to have their talks... answer some questions... collect their money and go back home...unscathed.
