As Premier it is Clark's job to call an election and advise the Lieutenant Gvr, BUT Horgan and the other idiot don't recognize her as being Premier, so maybe the landscape changes a tad.,

Actually, no, the Premier does not get to call an election. The Premier asks the LG to call an election, but technically, the Premier doesn't get to make that decision.

Horgan was part of the dipper disaster of the 90s. So we know what we are getting. Unfortunately in 16 years there is a whole generation of new navel gazers that think history is yesterday's sit coms that they watched today on their PVRs.

It will only be time before there is another mass exodus to Alberta.

I think you may be talking Ontario rules..................not sure if they are different in B.C. :)

The question I ask is why is he (with 41 seats) any more f**king entitled to be Premier than Christy (with 43 seats) ?

Because Christy Clark doesn't have the confidence of the legislature.

Every province has the same rules. The Lieutenant Governor has the power to dissolve the legislature and call an election.

In practice, it should be fine to say that the Premier calls an election, because the LG acts on the Premier's advice. The current situation in BC is a little different though because of the close election. The LG ignored Clark's advice, which is unconventional, but within her powers, and so makes it necessary to point out that, yes, technically the Lieutenant Governor calls elections, not the Premier.

I don't know why so many are in a panic. With an evenly divided house, the chances of the NDP surviving for more than a month are pretty slim and as JLM like to say (quite often) the sky is still up there. BC Liberals and all that follow are just a bunch of drama queens.

It's a really weird situation. Christy Clark asked for dissolution, which the LG decided against. I think Clark is right when she says the legislature won't work as it is now and although Clark didn't want to own it, that implies an election. But conventionally it's not really the right way to go. We kinda have to go through the whole "give the NDP a chance" thing, even though we know it won't last long.

In a minority situation with more than two parties, the executive asks the largest party to form the government, and if that doesn't work, she asks the next largest if they can. Sometimes, things get so bad that the third largest party gets asked. People are getting all bent out of shape because the NDP doesn't have the most seats, but that's not how the system works. The Liberals were given a chance and they lost confidence.

Don't you think the fact that Horgan is just itching to be Premier has more to do with his "non confidence" than anything the Liberals have done or haven't done. Does Horgan have a finance minister up his sleeve who is more capable that Mike deJong? It's utter & unadulterated Bull Shit! He's nothing more than two faced, arrogant creature!

Being helpful by providing incorrect facts as if they are true?

You are not only an Asshole but a liar of the first water! ( "..................not sure if they are different in B.C.") as everyone is able to tell from my quote.

Oh, for god's sake, read your own posts. The one before that. you said that the premier calls an election. You're wrong.

Why can't you just accept that you're wrong? Go back to junior high school.

JLM is really shook up over this.

Not really, just recognize a real asshole when I see one. Would it have been any harder to simply state- "I believe the parliamentary rules in Ontario are the same as B.C."? I'd have gladly accepted that, but no the pr!ck has to start making accusations.

Look Asshole, I've voted in about 12 provincial elections where in virtually every one the Premier called the election! (He may/may not have done it through the A.G. but only after he/she made the decision.

Accusations? Like accusing you of being wrong, which you were?

Jesus, man, Are you gonna have a stroke because I pointed out that you were wrong?

Guess what? You were wrong.
