So what was the point? Had the father threatened to kill his daughter?
Oh for...
First, religion has nothing to do with being Trans, thus there is no comparing the two situations.
Second, trans people - no matter the country - are rarely safe. Even Canada isn't safe for Trans people, that's the point of the article even if it's a US printed one. So the father is indulging in his transphobia and hate against his son by not only misgendering him, but deciding to talk to people about it, including Conservative networks, and according an article referencing the original case article, exposing him to harm by doing so. Which, from the link I posted, it does. Because Trans people are injured and killed all the time due to the same hate the father has.
FFS, the father even mentioned his son's PERSONAL INFORMATION. That puts him at risk from assholes who love nothing better than to beat up trans people, kids or not. The kid is 14; that was NOT right for him to do what so ever without consulting his mother at least!
So he got judgment for putting his kid at risk of family violence and rightfully so.
Throw in that the kid had attempted suicide because of things beforehand, and it was found likely to happen again if the father didn't shut his goddamned mouth... yeah, the father is as deadly to his son as anyone threatening to kill him.
