You see what you want to see. I see the courts interfering with what should be a parental decision. If she still wants to change genders when she reaches legal age and can pay for it herself then let her have at it. Next some court might decide what church you must send your kids to. Think of the larger implications than just one kid.

The mother approves, as the parent has to because he's under 16. Considering the mother has custody (which says more about the father than just an objection to their son being who he is)...

The issue with 'waiting' is that, as Trans, blockers are pretty much useless once someone's older, and for Trans women especially, passing is one of the bigger issues. Trans men do pass easier than Trans women past puberty. With blockers in place until HRT can truly start, Trans women don't develop the more visible male characteristics which increases their likelihood that the dysphoria won't be so bad later in life.

This where it starts getting tricky with government involvement in personal choices. There are some people that like cradle to grave socialism because they don't want to think for themselves. I'm more concerned on setting limits on what government, elected or appointed can inflict on the people that pay their saleries.

Considering a Trans person is born Trans, the only thing the hormones do is make the dysphoria worse because the body is changing in opposite to what the Trans person's gender really is.


Blockers stop that change from happening too soon, to give the child a chance to figure things out.


Really I'd think people would be for the blockers; it keeps "people who aren't Trans" from being so and figuring out if it truly is "just a phase", or perhaps figuring out their gender fluid or something else.

A person who's sterile still had the potential at least at birth to eventually produce one or the other or used to have that ability at some point in the past, or at the very least possesses most of the component parts to produce the one or the other.
