Well, whatever the story is, she has hers kids back.
Separation of church and state, USA style, originally meant religious tolerance from government, which means people can do whatever they think their religion tells them to do. It's evolved into something a bit different since Madison and the boys came up with the idea.

Any clue what separation of church and state means?

Why couldn't she go to another counselor? Spends her money on fentanyl?
I have no idea what fentanyl is other than something that popped into your mind with which to sidetrack the topic.

separation of church and state definition

The principle that government must maintain an attitude of neutrality toward religion. Many view separation of church and state as required by the First Amendment. The First Amendment not only allows citizens the freedom to practice any religion of their choice, but also prevents the government from officially recognizing or favoring any religion.

And a judge happened to be there and ordered her into counseling or else? Come Anna.... really?

Yes you can go into a govt. building and find reams of paper. You get it and go. You don't happen to find yourself in front of the bench.
True. But, I think I'm going to reach for some assumptions like Petros and suggest that she asked the wrong gov't employee for help in picking out which pamphlets to get.

What the article does not state is the fathers religious convictions or lack of.

I wonder if the father wanted a christian based counselling? Which would be his right also.

If they could afford it, they could have chosen to pay for counseling.

You all might call it trolling but I like to post articles to see what you all say about them.
The responses given show alot about how the poster thinks. Sort of window into the mind really.

so what's your definition if you're suggesting that the supplied definitions are incorrect?

so?.

Prior to the formation of US Govt, the churches did the admin work, education, health, and collected taxes etc etc etc. Government freed the churches of those responsibilities.

So she was broke and sent to free counseling. Does that break your heart?
