While I maintain that we should and must deport those who are here illegally or who have no
intention of going by the rules of entry, I do not condone calling people scum or other nasty
names. There are many reasons people jump the cue. They are desperate to provide a better
life for their family, there are those who engaged in criminal acts of rebellion against their own
govenment and the people who they didn't agree with inside their country. There are those who
are international criminals who engage in human trafficking, spying, terrorism, and the illegal drug
trade. The one group I have some sympathy with, however you can't sort people out if they have
no papers and we can't check backgrounds.
There is one serious overriding factor that no one considers. We as citizens of a nation or the
government that we elect, cannot protect us from terrorism or organized criminals if we don't
even know who is living amongst us.
The fact that these people are illegal they deplete the resources of the people who are legitimate
citizens. Social Security, education, medicare, and a host of other programs are impacted when
illegal residents gain access to these programs. Those who are citizens have to take less or go
without while those who jump the cue, come ahead of those who are entitled to services that
over a lifetime they have paid into and supported.
Again, I am not opposed to immigration of documented people who come to join us in making
a contribution to our future as a country. We must know who is here, who is legal to reside here
and who should be removed, or are a threat to the rest of us. If we do not take action now it will
be too late, and we will have failed the interests of future generation we are legally bound to protect.
It is time our governments began to live up to their entrusted responsibilities.
