Lol

I gave that stuff up. I prefer to keep my frame of reference somewhat consistent.

Scientifically speaking the only way to quantify a so called religious experience is through the use of the psychoactive substances.

I see nothing wrong with that.

And just because the majority think it's wrong, doesn't mean it is wrong. That's the whole point of having rights for all. It prevents the majority from imposing their will on smaller groups.

Not sure I like that rule in this case, more than prayer and religion will be taught there. But your right and I still would like them to build 8-9 blocks away.

The prayer space is two floors out of 13. They were already praying in the building that exists on site now, which is taller than two stories...

It's a cultural center, not a mosque.

A Majority or a minority is not always right or wrong - That is common sense. You overlook a number of issues - How the average US Joe Blow views Ground Zero - Same as Pearl Harbor - Same as those trying to build a casino in Gettysburg - That is something Canadians in general cannot understand, relate to or at times comprehend the emotions and outrage involved..

And just because a vocal minority state that it is right does not make it right - Like the old saying goes - Follow the money -

Check out Canadian Mosques and try to find out how much the Saudi Govt and other fund them - they fund them to teach their version of Islam - And we are all well acquainted with that version.

Don't want it overlooking the 9/11 site. Canadians as well as many people in the world cannot imagine how we hold so many places in such high esteem. 9/11 is now sacred ground, it will be treated as a Pearl Harbor or Gettysburg. We don't want it tainted by a MacDonald's, or a trophy for those who committed such an atrocious act.

Some interesting points from Bloomberg (Mayor of New York)

- Mosque has been operating for over a year without any conflict or opposition or sensitivity from any parties
- It has only come about now because this is election season
- It is an attempt at polarizing people so politicians can get a vote
- Bloomberg is the chairman of the board for the world trade center and pretty much has a pulse on the real sentiment of families of the victims of the whole ordeal, who have all, unequivocally provided their support for the mosque to be built

You can see the interview regarding those details here..

Who attacked Pearl Harbour? The Japanese people or the Japanese Emperor?

It doesn't.

Google maps shows the street view, you can't see the World Trade Center site from there. Two city blocks away from the site.

Any other reason?

We don't want it tainted by a MacDonald's, or a trophy for those who committed such an atrocious act.

There's a McDonald's one block from the WTC, 160 Broadway. And don't conflate those building this community center with Al-Qaeda, that's ridiculous.

How much of the electronics and tech that are inside the systems that now protect the Pacific Fleet are Japanese?
I have no idea, but you know what I have less of an idea about?

How that applies to your original question, or my reply.

Is there a sushi ban in Honolulu?
Is sushi a Shinto code?

I already took apart eao's attempt at bring Japanese Buddhist temples in Pearl Harbour, into the debate. He failed miserably and even conceded.
Time heals and ideals change.
Agreed, today you can probably find Aikido Combat Dojo's in Hawaii.

But I think 9 years after Pearl Harbour would have been a serious issue.

Today, American society even openly jokes about the former American beliefs of the time.

Some is even sublime. You have obviously seen King of the Hill? Ever wonder why Cotton Hill had his knees shot off by the Japanese?

Because they believed and thought the Japanese were just tiny people with bad eyesite shot out of gopher holes.

If I'm ever in the mood I can even buy a Mitsubishi in Honolulu and go on the chicken killing rampage.
