So you think that they all follow the book literally? Must be interesting going through life as paranoid as you seem to be.

Let's have story time, shall we? Here are some wonderful verses of peace and tolerance from the Qu'ran.

"A fire has been prepared for the disbelievers, whose fuel is men and stones. 2:24"

"Jews are the greediest of all humankind. They'd like to live 1000 years. But they are going to hell. 2:96"

"Kill disbelievers wherever you find them. If they attack you, then kill them. Such is the reward of disbelievers. (But if they desist in their unbelief, then don't kill them.) 2:191-2"

"All non-Muslims will be rejected by Allah after they die. 3:85"

"We shall cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Their habitation is the Fire 3:151"

"Those who brag about doing good will go to hell. 3:188"

And for you... being a woman.

"Have sex with your women whenever and as often as you like. 2:223"

"A woman is worth one-half a man. 2:282"

"Marry of the women, who seem good to you, two or three or four." 4:3

You don't have to be modest around your wives or your slave girls "that your right hand possess." 23:6

Cautious, yes. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't trust them. To me there's a rational difference.
To me you are incredibly ignorant of Islam. And your trust is irrational and unwise.

It isn't the only religion that was under that impression. So?
So? It is the only main religion that still mass murders people.

So you must take their faerie stories as seriously as they do.
I don't. I take the lunatics that believe them seriously.

Clancy writes about killing a lot. Arthur Conan Doyle wrote about killing a lot. So did Shakespeare. None were locked up as far as I know. I haven't seen anyone in Canada locked up for having this book in spite of having "hate speech" in it.
None of them told their readers to go out and kill. Bad analogy.

It is hate speech, and our cowardly government should ban it if they want to be equal in their censorship.

But my personal views, are of course to not ban it, but to also not ban people from criticizing it.

Given the evidence, it really isn't so much paranoia as it is an educated awareness.

Cautious, yes. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't trust them. To me there's a rational difference.
I personally trust no one until proven otherwise. For some the process is longer.

It isn't the only religion that was under that impression. So?
This is true, but we're talking about a contemporary threat. Not an historical accounting of.
So you must take their faerie stories as seriously as they do.
I can't speak for Libertarian, but I don't. What i do take serious, is the way they interpret those stories and manipulate them to justify mass murder and conversion at the end of a sword.

Clancy writes about killing a lot.
I know eh! Gives me a boner to be sure.

Arthur Conan Doyle wrote about killing a lot.
To long winded and cerebral.

So did Shakespeare.
To flowery.

None were locked up as far as I know.
None tried to pass off their writings as a divine voice whispering in their ear.

I haven't seen anyone in Canada locked up for having this book in spite of having "hate speech" in it.
Charter of rights sucks donkey balls.

Some are, some aren't. Just like the rest of humanity. Some good, some bad.

I'm not talking about Arabs here. I'm talking about Islam. All Muslims are evil IF they truly follow their religion.

Evil being the will to kill people for no reason but not believing exactly as you do. That to me is evil.

Don't be going eanassir on us now. We see enough of the Quran from him.

To me you are incredibly ignorant of Islam. And your trust is irrational and unwise.
And to me you are incredibly careless with your words. So?

So? It is the only main religion that still mass murders people.
People murder people. Religions just attract people.

I don't. I take the lunatics that believe them seriously.

None of them told their readers to go out and kill. Bad analogy.
Clancy's books suggests that killing is good, if you have the right "cause". I don't see a difference.

It is hate speech, and our cowardly government should ban it if they want to be equal in their censorship.

Perhaps our gov't is more grown up than you and realizes that most Muslims aren't into killing people.
So if you see someone that looks Muslim, do you scurry off home and hide in your bunker and surround yourself with ammo?

You need to learn it. It is not a great book. I'd rather have children read Aesop's fables then Qu'ran fairy tales. Less violent and actually has meaning.

And to me you are incredibly careless with your words. So?
Careless? I don't think so.

People murder people. Religions just attract people.
People murder people because of religion. Religion gives justification, therefore, religion should be charged with accessory to murder.

Clancy's books suggests that killing is good, if you have the right "cause". I don't see a difference.
Yeah but his book doesn't tell you specifically to kill. The Qu'ran does. It says you as a Muslim should kill disbelievers.

Our government is highly grown up? That's a laugh and a half. Just because most Muslims aren't into killing people, does not mean they don't follow a book that says they can.

I see Muslims in Calgary all the time. With their ninja masks and head scarfs, and towel turbans.

It's like a free circus 24/7. All we need now is for some Catholic priests to parade downtown in their getup and we have ourselves a free circus freak show.

And I have experienced hatred from Muslims firsthand. I've been on a bus with entirely Muslims, and they stare at me with hatred in their eyes. I just stare right back. I'm not going to be intimidated into silence in my own country by these religious fanatics.

WOW

You guys are good - I am totally gobsmacked this thread has continued with some insults and some compliments, some defensive posturing and aggressive maneuvering and people continue to write and administration isn't sending it to
lala land.

Best "discussion" I've seen for a long time on a hot-wire topic and some excellent points and personal opinions are being allowed without too much in the way of
crude and rude.....

At one point reading the University's take on freedom of speech, I was concerned discussion and/or debate would not be allowed on the internet and it would be shut down.

Makes me realize how valuable this little method of communication is and when people come with open minds and share their opinions - entrenched or iffy - we
can only profit from it.

Do you realize how many people here would have been killed or imprisoned in other eras in other nations for what has been written here during the past few days?

...thanks for the good read.... I hope you all stopped for lunch......(or a beer anyway)....my congratulations!!! curio

"I'm not sure "allegory" is the word you are looking for. I think you'll find that in Aesop's Fables"

Definition of "allegory": a fable, a story, poem, etc. in which the events depicted are used to convey a deeper moral, spiritual meaning.

So, it'a judgement call.

Sure you're not bullsh*tting me Y.J. I'm guessing the word you were looking for was "analogy".........................................That would make more sense.

I don't need a book to tell me I can kill people. I know I can. I just choose not to. So I guess you'd better be afraid of me, too.

Now you are sounding bigoted. Ninjas were Japanese, I wear a head scarf sometimes and have seen many hankieheads that are palefaces, and I also wear a towel on my head when drying my hair, and turbans are not made of towels.

It's like a free circus 24/7. All we need now is for some Catholic priests to parade downtown in their getup and we have ourselves a free circus freak show.

Sorry that happened to you.
Don't be, it was one of life's little foibles. I volunteered to serve, you have to expect some dirt with the IMP's, lol.

I also detest Muslims and hate their religion.
I do to a strange degree. I've employed them, I associate with them, I have even exposed my sons to Islam, to remove the fear of the unknown.

I fully believe that if one is going to dislike something, they must come to that conclusion with all the facts. My sons do not know my feelings on Islam, their feelings will have to be of their own creation.

I have given them the tools to come to that conclusion with tact, reason and open critical thought.

Because in the end, I recognise my own feelings as irrational. But then again, I have suffered with a duality my whole life, but that's another story...

Yet not everyone pays them much attention.

Yeah, sadly.

Too bad. But that's what it looks like to me.

Oh well.

... along with love, sex, money, fun, and any other reason people kill people for.

That is irrelevant. It doesn't excuse Muslims.

And most Muslims refuse to do that. Yet you paint the entire people with the same brush as you paint the extremists. That's just silly, IMO.

No it isn't. You are willfully ignorant of Islam. I showed you quotes of that barbaric religion, but you put your head in the sand and ignore it. ANYONE who believes that garbage and professes to follow it is a bad person. It is a warlike religion, founded by a pedophile rapist and warmongerer. That is indisputable fact. If you want to argue, I will show sources.

I don't need a book to tell me I can kill people. I know I can. I just choose not to. So I guess you'd better be afraid of me, too.

You choose not to probably because you have no motivation to. Islam is the motivation for murder. If you can't see that, I can't help you.

Now you are sounding bigoted. Ninjas were Japanese, I wear a head scarf sometimes and have seen many hankieheads that are palefaces, and I also wear a towel on my head when drying my hair, and turbans are not made of towels.

I'll comment on anyone's dress the way I see fit. If that makes me bigoted, so be it. I also dislike "gangster" outfits, does that make be bigoted? A gang-banger with baggy pants, a sideways hat, and a jersey, has as much validity to their dress as a Muslim does, and both look ridiculous.

I know a fair bit about ninjas, from studying Japanese culture. Peasant assassins who rose against the oppressive Samurai class. Turbans look as funny as tophats or fedoras. And I will mock anyone I feel the need to.

... and you can add guys in monster trucks with full gunracks in their back windows.

Hmm...
