Hate to ask but did that have to do with there being the need for a funeral? If being gay is supposed to keep you out of heaven then this act will probably just give him some company, which sort of seem to go against 'the plan'.

ashamed of a specific act and you can have a disagreement of issues and be
human. Colpy is on the same side as you on this one as I am also appalled.
These people in the story are not even following the teachings they profess to
proclaim.
Just who the hell on this planet decides who is and is not going to Heaven?
It ain't us humans that is for sure.
Can you imagine a place in the afterlife filled with those bringing along their petty
squabbles and their personal versions of the truth? Good God it would be just
like being here on earth.
Why can;t people just let others be? Why is it the churches not all but some
have to have some great enemy or evil to do battle with? Why not do battle with
hunger and homelessness and kids without parents and families?
If the church and other institutions actually lived by the example of love and sharing
they would set the example for progress and demonstrate there is hope for a better
future. Instead they come with conditional love, dogma and hatred of others
and they have the nerve to tell us to love our neighbors.

Actually, that is true.
The Baptists I have known, for the most part, were relatively tolerant of race and lifestyle.
Canadian Baptists are normal. In thee US anyone can call themselves a Pastor and start preaching a whacky doctrine that debases and sullys the Christian belief and morals as a whole.
I get the feeling 'the most part' would be considered a 'series' rather than a 'foot note'.
Did you just admit to being adopted? Not every loving Christian can call their parents 'Baptists I have known' in public without breaking down emotionally, further as he definitely in the 'broken range'.
I just don't get this whole christian castigation of and aversion to homosexuality.
