Not really, political machines have gotten very slick at packaging candidates.

The new leader of the Quebec Liberal Party has had connections to those types.
How much news did that make. Does that tell you anything.
Did I ever state he was a great guy- No- I have stated repeatedly that Ford is the father of his own misfortunes.
But that is not a crime.
Unless you are a Conservative then it appears to be a crime.
Like I said addicted to KFC cocaine not so much. The reason people jumped on the whole
thing is Ford is a train wreck already. He is like bozo the clown he doesn't know when to be
quiet and he knows nothing about protocol. There is behaviour one does not engage in when
running for or being in office and then there is Ford's Behavior. He is an embarrassment to
his community. Seeing as it is Toronto its fine to have a duffus as leader Toronto has had
a few and that is because what ever is in the water allows the others to look through rose
coloured glasses so they don't see the duffus he is. Its sort of like living in Kelowna.
The post Ford era which will be over soon and the people will await the next one.
They should also listen to you.
for unproven allegations. I liked this article, if Ford actually turned out to be guilty, fine, hang him. Otherwise grow up children.
Toronto Mayor Rob Ford should not resign. Nobody has proved that he’s done anything wrong.
Make no mistake about it — the protests in front of Toronto’s City Hall, the calls for his resignation, the constant invasion of his privacy by media types lurking outside his home, or hanging around his cottage, are not really about some ephemeral, possibly doctored video which allegedly shows Ford smoking crack cocaine. All the rackety protests and all the resignation calls and all the hounding by the media are about one thing — a hatred for Ford’s right-wing politics and an inability to accept that their fellow Torontonians voted him into office.
These people are unclear on a basic concept of democracy, which most individuals understand when they go to the polls: Somebody else’s favoured candidate might win over theirs. In fact, Ford won 47 per cent of the vote, slightly more than Calgary’s mayor, Naheed Nenshi, who garnered 40 per cent of the vote. (Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson took 53 per cent of the vote in 2011.)
One of the protesters at a rally in front of Toronto City Hall the other day held up a sign calling for a “Fordless Toronto.” That says it all — this is clearly all about politics. It’s about an overweight and rather rumpled Rob Ford not being what these self-appointed elitists think Toronto should look like, or think like, or be like. So, they’re desperately grasping at the flimsiest straws they can find, to force him out of office.
Otherwise, why would supposedly rational people be exhibiting the alarming symptoms of hydrophobia over a video they’ve never seen, one which may be bogus and, for all anybody knows, might not even exist?
Do the words “due process” mean anything to these people? There is absolutely no evidence of any wrongdoing on Ford’s part, yet his opponents apparently believe him guilty of smoking crack. In their minds, since his politics and persona don’t jibe with their own, he automatically forfeits the presumption of innocence that every other Canadian is entitled to when accused of illegal activity. Not even the rankest amateur among Crown attorneys would stand up in court and insist he or she had a solid case against a defendant, even though the single key piece of evidence had never been proven to exist.......................
The Rob Ford lynch mob should be ashamed
facts and hate are not good bedfellowsI haven't kept up with this story but it kinda reminds me of the perpetual witchhunt that the American right wing has made about Obama. The delusionals believe every manner of bullshït that's made up about him even when it is proven wrong. Yet they persist in believing the crap and posting about it months later despite the constant refutations. In fact when someone like me again posts proof that a myth about him has previously been refuted I get the same old shït about broken record, broken record.
He was guilty and should have hanged.for unproven allegations. I liked this article, if Ford actually turned out to be guilty, fine, hang him. Otherwise grow up children.
pffffffffffffshaw...he's squeaky clean doncha know
I know, but the comment begged for that response... lollol, there's a difference between knowing drug dealers and being a crack head.
One I can buy, the other does not make sense.
One doesn't need to be 'squeaky clean' to not be guilty of the accusations of being a crack head.
I don't know anyone that smokes/sniffs crack...I know a few people who have recovered from drug addiction and it ain't pretty but I'm sure their dentists love them...just a silly thought...
when are the 'legalize crack' advocates going to come out of the woodwork with comments like "I know lots of lawyers, MAYORS, and doctors that smoke crack...."

bingoI say legalize it. Mainly because even if you do, doctors lawyers and mayors won't use it anymore than they already do, because you CAN'T smoke crack, and hold down a job, from anything I've ever seen.
Toronto police became aware of an alleged video that appeared to capture Toronto Mayor Rob Ford smoking crack cocaine during the force’s sweeping investigation into a network of accused drug dealers and gun runners – before the alleged video was revealed in the media, The Globe and Mail has learned.
A source with knowledge of the investigation said that the alleged video “came up prior” to the May 16 reports in the Toronto Star, and the U.S. gossip website Gawker, both of which published detailed accounts, written by three different journalists, about how they were shown a video of the mayor smoking what appeared to be crack-cocaine from a glass pipe.
The media reports did not come as a shock to investigators, who had already learned about an alleged video through their yearlong probe into a west-end Toronto street gang known as the Dixon Bloods, the source said.
CTV News reported earlier Thursday that police had prior knowledge of the alleged video.
