and also, even at 13, the "boy" knows right from wrong and needs some major help since he raped a 5 yr old little girl. A 2 yr slap on the wrist isn't going to help him.

I know. I was just saying that I can't believe that they would still be considered boys at that age. It was directed at you personally.

It was, was it.

Sorry Gerry. I meant to say "wasn't" directed at you.

uh huh...suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure........ I believe ya, where thousands wouldn't.

Uh Gerry, when have I ever given you the impression that I wasn't being sincere towards you. It was the wrong word, and that's all it was.

The parameters seem a bit high to me. I would say a male is generally speaking fully mature physically by age 16. (Mentally mature anywhere between 16 and 66)

it kind of reminds me of a dateline or 48 hours episode in which a girl wrote in a letter, 'I did kill', when she allegedly meant to write, 'I didn't kill'.

Chances are the kid was under 12 and like here no charges.

The mother of a 5-year-old girl who had been raped by an adolescent boy claimed that county attorneys told her that the her daughter’s assailant only received two years of community service because “boys will be boys.”

But 2 years for a kid under 12 wouldn't be considered a slap on the wrist for most people. I just wish they would at least have said the exact age of the perpetrator. It's too vague.

Likely the fallback defense would be "she was asking for it ". Who was the more disturbed, the perp or the lawyer?

It sounds strange to me. Your average 12 year old would not rape a five year old. Thus there is a lot going on in this kids life. To sentence a kid to two years of community service for rape, when obviously he needs heavy psychological intervention and perhaps help for what has been done to him is a cover up of some kind. Who are his parents and how much pull do they have?

Tip of the iceberg.

Well why not? They gave that teen in Texas what amounted to a slap on the wrist for killing people while driving under the influence because he was too rich to know any better.

13 to 19 years of age is the definition of "teenager"....... but "adolescent" is a physiological term which could start before 13 or extend past age 19........

That was so pathetic. That story burned me.

That story should have burned everybody. As this one really should as well.

You know what I don't get about grown men that would utter something like this is just how self-loathing and misandric they must be. I mean to suggest that this type of behaviour (if it was indeed uttered and to be honest I'm not holding out much hope that it wasn't) is in any way normal male behaviour is hugely insulting the very vast majority of men.
