Twila,
I've seen the health curriculum used in our schools and it is in grade 5 when they learn about children and birth control.
Jay,
You make it sound as if thousands of women died every year as a result of botched abortions. I'm still waiting for numbers. If anything, from what I've read, it appears that more women are dying today as a result of abortions because very rarely did late pregnancy abortions take place. However today it is becoming more and more common but the risks are much higher and deadlier. So in fact, if abortion was illegal we may save MORE lives of young women that our current situation.
However, after saying that, you and I do have a very similar view. We need to support expectant mothers in any way possible so that we don't force these women to make a decision which some of them will agonize over for the rest of their lives.
Peapod,
I'm a normal everyday person just like you, no silver spoon here.
I just believe that everyone needs to take responsibility for their actions and killing an innocent child can't possibly be a "good" solution.
