Later this evening we will start rounding up the capitalists for deportation to yankeeland where they obviously want to be anyway. Congraulations comrades and take heart we will soon expand the revolution into upper Canada and save you all from the hideous bankers and thier flunky underlings.

Well, we've heard all the propaganda from the Whigs and Torries about the Dippers. I guess it looks like we'll find out if any of it is true, or more Big Lies.

It depends upon how well NDP governs. If they govern responsibly, they may well have future in Nova Scotia, like they do in Manitoba, Saskatchewan or BC.

However we did have an NDP government here in Ontario (with Bob Rae), it was a disaster. It gave rise to Mike Harris, who was even a bigger disaster. However, after the abysmal performance of the NDP government, NDP is again relegated to permanent third party status in Ontario. It is again between Liberals and Conservatives.

So it al depends upon how NDP governs.

We had the NDP in BC and they were a disaster. The group we have now are a result of having that NDP government. Campbel and his crowd are supposed to be Liberal but what they are is a "Beat the NDP party". that was thrown together to get the NDP out. B.C. knows what it is like having an NDP government. Nova Scotia will learn.

Juan is right....the NDP were a complete disaster in BC........but (dare I say it?) SJP is correct as well......the NDP became incredibly unpopular in Ontario under Rae.....but there have been very popular and effective NDP gov'ts in Saskatchewan and Manitoba..

The difference is Rae was a harder core socialist than the NDP premiers in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. BC's NDP was harder left than the prarie varieties as well. If they stay center-left instead of hard left, the NDP may work for Nova Scotia.

Saskatchewan under the CCF was one thing, and what morphed into the
NDP was a completely different thing. Saskatchewan idled for years
under the NDP (Union Friendly....but Business Friendly, not so much).
The NDP has only been out for a few years (not quite two) and things
are different, more vibrant, more positive. Businesses are moving in and
things are happening that didn't/wouldn't under the NDP.

The NDP are still the official opposition in Saskatchewan with 20 seats
(versus the Sask.Party's 38 seats) due to the fact that the choice for a
third Party is the Liberal Party, which holds 0/58 seats out here....

Like B.C. & Ontario, we've learned our lesson. I just hope it stays learned
for several more consecutive terms. Nova Scotia, best of luck to you!!!!

These are vastly different times that demand radicalisms of all kinds. Those not willing and able to make them will not survive this depression. So whatever the experiance with soft socialism has been to date, in Canada it already dosen't apply, nor will it ever again. A revolution in the west cannot be far off. The dollars done guys, unemployment is exceeding records, retail, houseing, auto, every sector is in collapse and it cannot be stopped and we've given the banks our savings and loaded thier debt on our backs so it's going to be a long rotten global depression. Quess where all the manufacturing equipment and expertise is? Quess how it got there?

As far as I can tell, Rodney did everything possible to prove that he and his gov't were incompetent, bumbling fools.

It will be quite interesting to see how things go from here, although to be honest, I don't expect anything significant to be changed.

I did my advanced flying training in Saskatoon. They did a lot of things right. You bought your auto insurance with your licence plates. When you are young and in the Airforce you don't look at your taxes or deductions because everyone is in the same boat and who cares. Flying was the only thing that mattered. Dave Barrett was NDP but he was responsible. He saw the province was going broke and resigned. The next NDP government grew our debt up to 34 billion dollars and we had to throw them out, but the cost was the Campbell government we have now.

Yup. Right from the start for Rodney.

If he takes the HST off electricity like he said he would, that will be enough of a change for many people I'm sure.

N.D.P. Gov'ts are good where everyone is ambitious and wants to do their share plus 5%, but in mainstream society they don't work for long as the ones willing to give can't keep up with the ones willing to take. However they are sometimes good for one term, just to stir things up, not mention getting rid of some corrupt incumbants.

I liked Dave, he was a sensible man and he did a couple of good things, A.L.R. and I.C.B.C., but his big mistake was pissing on the capitalist and that doesn't work.

When all the bankers are gone where are you going to cash your welfare cheque?
