I’m interested in some of the roles the actor has played if they’re entertaining (Narco & the Mandilorian were good!) but not necessarily their personal life (movies and series are escape-ism for me, but my own life is busy enough that I don’t need to live vicariously though an actor’s personal life).

If acting was ‘just’ reading lines from a script, then you (or I) probably wouldn’t have favourite actors in movies, as some actors are definitely better than others….

I get where you’re coming from though. I like the roles Ryan Reynolds plays generally….& if he’s in a movie, I’m probably going to enjoy it.

I don’t think I’ve watched Will Smith in any roll since he slapped Chris Rock, so I guess I’m not immune to actors personal lives, but I’m not interested in their children or spouses or other creepy shit like that.

Actors (or singers, etc…) throwing their weight around on political issues is pretentious at best most of the time. This dude stepping up to say he’s protective of his family is an admirable quality. Not sure of the relevance of his sister being trans beyond showing his acceptance, or that it’s just not relevant to him that his sister is trans or not…that it’s still his sister.

Abstract

Context

The treatment for transsexualism is sex reassignment, including hormonal treatment and surgery aimed at making the person's body as congruent with the opposite sex as possible. There is a dearth of long term, follow-up studies after sex reassignment.

Objective

To estimate mortality, morbidity, and criminal rate after surgical sex reassignment of transsexual persons.

Design

A population-based matched cohort study.

Setting

Sweden, 1973-2003.

Participants

All 324 sex-reassigned persons (191 male-to-females, 133 female-to-males) in Sweden, 1973–2003. Random population controls (10∶1) were matched by birth year and birth sex or reassigned (final) sex, respectively.

Main Outcome Measures

Hazard ratios (HR) with 95% confidence intervals (CI) for mortality and psychiatric morbidity were obtained with Cox regression models, which were adjusted for immigrant status and psychiatric morbidity prior to sex reassignment (adjusted HR [aHR]).

Results

The overall mortality for sex-reassigned persons was higher during follow-up (aHR 2.8; 95% CI 1.8–4.3) than for controls of the same birth sex, particularly death from suicide (aHR 19.1; 95% CI 5.8–62.9). Sex-reassigned persons also had an increased risk for suicide attempts (aHR 4.9; 95% CI 2.9–8.5) and psychiatric inpatient care (aHR 2.8; 95% CI 2.0–3.9). Comparisons with controls matched on reassigned sex yielded similar results. Female-to-males, but not male-to-females, had a higher risk for criminal convictions than their respective birth sex controls.

Conclusions

Persons with transsexualism, after sex reassignment, have considerably higher risks for mortality, suicidal behaviour, and psychiatric morbidity than the general population. Our findings suggest that sex reassignment, although alleviating gender dysphoria, may not suffice as treatment for transsexualism, and should inspire improved psychiatric and somatic care after sex reassignment for this patient group.

CRTC mulls banning Fox News after complaint from LGBTQ2 group
Egale Canada, a Toronto-based group, published an open letter to the CRTC in April

The CRTC has launched a public consultation on whether to ban Fox News from Canadian cable packages after a complaint from an LGBTQ2 advocacy group over “incendiary” comments aired on the conservative TV channel.

The broadcast regulatory agency posted a notice Wednesday, accepting comments from interested parties and the public until June 2.

Egale Canada, a Toronto-based group, published an open letter to the CRTC in April after they were featured on Fox News’ now cancelled Tucker Carlson Tonight show in March.

The group claimed Fox’s coverage “aimed to provoke hatred and violence against 2SLGBTQI communities, particularly those who are Two Spirit, trans, nonbinary and gender non-conforming (2STNBGN).”

“This programming is in clear violation of Canadian broadcasting standards and has no place on Canadian broadcasting networks,” Egale Canada executive director Helen Kennedy wrote.

The letter, dated April 4, accused Carlson of making “false and horrifying claims about 2STNBGN people, painting them as violent and dangerous” on a show that aired March 28.

Carlson was fired from Fox News last week after the network settled a defamation suit with Dominion Voting Systems.

Despite the prime-time host’s exit, an Egale spokesperson told True North that the group still wants the network removed from Canadian cable packages.

“The issue of Fox News inciting hate, violence and discrimination in its programming extends beyond one individual,” Egale spokesperson Jennifer Boyce told True North.

According to government records, Egale Canada has received millions in grants and contributions from the federal government since 2017.

How about alleviating gender dysphoria BEFORE doing sex reassignments because it's a mental health issue and nothing else.

So, this ends up in my inbox this afternoon:

(I wanted to see a former Green Peace founding member back during Covid about Global Warming, but due to Covid….Didn’t happen…. But I ended up on the rebel news Email list. Here’s the nuts and bolts of the email:)

Dear Ron,

You WON'T BELIEVE who we ran into!
After learning that the YWCA Regina booked a male trans activist named Fae Johnstone (real name Zac) to be a keynote speaker at the Nutrien Women of Distinction awards, we launched a petition atFireFae.ca to revoke his invitation.

What is an organization that claims to empower women doing taking away female opportunities to speak on behalf of women's issues and giving them to a biological male?

That petition garnered 9,000 signatures, so I flew to Regina with my videographer Kian Simone to drop it off at the YWCA.
Well, wouldn't you know it, shortly after arriving, we happened to bump into this "woman" of distinction himself enjoying a smoke at a nearby bus stop...

So we jumped at the opportunity to ask Johnstone — who cry bullies online about his own safety — if he would denounce the threats of violence and social media deplatforming of women who disagree with hiring a biological male as the headliner at the YWCA's biggest annual fundraiser.

You have to see his reaction:
It's an insult to the 600,000-plus women and girls in Saskatchewan to have their gender colonized by a biological male from Ottawa. Women's concerns deserve to be heard, especially by organizations purporting to support and represent them.

That's why we travelled to Regina to ensure those concerns won't be ignored. If you want to help us with our modest travel expenses, please “Spam” to donate.

Someone has to stand up for women and girls. The mainstream media certainly won't do it… so why not us?

Yours truly,

Sheila Gunn Reid

P.S. This isn't the last time the YWCA will hear from us. We will keep gathering signatures on our petition and send it out electronically. Spam if you haven't signed it yet. And if you want to go the extra mile, you can email the YWCA directly with one click Spam to let them know what you think of their decision. (Just be nice!)
——————————————————————-
Personally, it seems like they’re all a pack of dicks….The reporter for stocking somebody on the street, the woman of distinction chick, and the staff at the YWCA. At least that’s consistent throughout.
