Anyone who thinks admissions gained by torture are valid, needs to be waterboarded till they admit to killing JFK, stealing the Lindbergh baby, and nailing christ to a cross.

US report on 'enhanced interrogation' concludes: torture doesn't work

effing DUH!!!!

"But isn’t torture illegal under US law?

Yes. A 1994 federal statute, enacted when the US ratified the United Nations Convention against Torture, makes the use of torture a criminal offense. But the memo re-defined torture very narrowly only as a practice that causes pain similar to that of “organ failure, impairment of bodily function, or death.”

So under that definition, an interrogator who, for example, broke the detainee’s bones or nearly drowned them, would not be deemed to have committed “torture” because it would not result in organ failure or death.

The CIA used this completely twisted definition of torture to approve the specific techniques."

Why are you asking that question? That's not what the supreme court ruling, or his lawsuit, or the settlement, was about.

But keep on waiting, you never know.
So did the Supreme Court award damages ?

Northern Ontario,
But still, he does deserve compensation, although I question the amount! - Probably a $million clear.
I still don't think he did except for being held for years without a trial in Guantanamo, although prisoners of war fall into a different category than ordinary criminals which are supposed to get a prompt trial...

find your reading glasses and come back
:)
I know he was question by Canadian intelligence officers while in guatanamo but war is hell and Canadians are not the ones who brought him there...
As a mater of fact Canada isthe one that got him out

Compensation for being skilled at tossing grenades?

PS - you still haven't addressed the rebuttal of Khadr not qualifying as a child or a soldier.... Any thoughts?

Those are moot points UNTIL it's been proven beyond a reasonable doubt that he killed anyone. :)

I have no idea what the correct amount would be but he was definitely owed something!

Send him a cheque.

He was found guilty. Period. End of story. Reasonable doubt has long since been irrelevant. You are one of the few people who seem to have any doubts.

I might add that two successive Liberal governments left him there and it was the subsequent Conservative government that got him out of Gitmo. Ti-Jean Chretien was happy to see him rot in an American gulag, it would seem.
