British policy advisor says Gore is in 'panic' mode Jim Brown - OneNewsNow - 4/1/2008 12:00:00 PM

British environmental analyst Christopher Monckton says Al Gore's latest attack on global warming skeptics shows the former vice president and other climate alarmists are "panicking."

On Sunday, CBS News correspondent Leslie Stahl asked Al Gore on the television show 60 Minutes what he thinks of people like Vice President Dick Cheney who doubt that global warming is caused by human activity.

"I think that those people are in such a tiny, tiny minority now with their point of view, they're almost like the ones who still believe that the moon landing was staged in a movie lot in Arizona, and those who believe the earth is flat," replied Gore. "That demeans them a little bit, but it's not that far off."

However, Lord Christopher Monckton, a policy advisor for former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher during the 1980s, says the former vice president can enjoy his "flat earth fantasies" for a few months, but in the end, the world will be laughing at him.

"The alarmists are alarmed, the panic mongers are panicking, the scare mongers are scared; the Gores are gored. Why? Because global warming stopped ten years ago; it hasn't got warmer since 1998," he points out. "And in fact in the last seven years, there has been a downturn in global temperatures equivalent on average to about [or] very close to one degree Fahrenheit per decade. We're actually in a period ... of global cooling."

Monckton contends Gore is now "panicking" because he has staked his reputation as a former American VP on "telling the world that we're all doomed unless we shut down 90 percent of the Western economies." He also contends that Gore is the largest "global-warming profiteer."

Gore's group The Alliance for Climate Protection is currently launching a new $300 million ad campaign that demands reforms in environmental law to help reduce the supposed "climate crisis." But Monckton points out that in the U.K., Gore is not allowed to speak in public about his "green investment company" because to do so would violate racketeering laws by "peddling a false prospectus." He says that fact came about after a British high court found Gore's movie, An Inconvenient Truth, riddled with errors.

Monckton challenged Gore to an internationally televised debate on climate change last year.

What's funny is a lot of his followers STILL believe the moon landing was staged.

British high court found Gore's movie, An Inconvenient Truth, riddled with errors.

Hogwash!! The same judge said, "
The Film advances four main scientific hypotheses, each of which is very well supported by research published in respected, peer-reviewed journals and accords with the latest conclusions of the IPCC [Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change]:
(1) global average temperatures have been rising significantly over the past half century and are likely to continue to rise ("climate change");
(2) climate change is mainly attributable to man-made emissions of carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide ("greenhouse gases");
(3) climate change will, if unchecked, have significant adverse effects on the world and its populations; and
(4) there are measures which individuals and governments can take which will help to reduce climate change or mitigate its effects.
Said the judge:
These propositions, [which the government] submits (and I accept), are supported by a vast quantity of research published in peer-reviewed journals worldwide and by the great majority of the world's climate scientists.

It is hardly "riddled with errors"

Energy Guzzled by Al Gore’s Home in Past Year Could Power 232 U.S. Homes for a Month
Gore’s personal electricity consumption up 10%, despite “energy-efficient” home renovations

NASHVILLE - In the year since Al Gore took steps to make his home more energy-efficient, the former Vice President’s home energy use surged more than 10%, according to the Tennessee Center for Policy Research.

“A man’s commitment to his beliefs is best measured by what he does behind the closed doors of his own home,” said Drew Johnson, President of the Tennessee Center for Policy Research. “Al Gore is a hypocrite and a fraud when it comes to his commitment to the environment, judging by his home energy consumption.”

In the past year, Gore’s home burned through 213,210 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity, enough to power 232 average American households for a month.

In February 2007, An Inconvenient Truth, a film based on a climate change speech developed by Gore, won an Academy Award for best documentary feature. The next day, the Tennessee Center for Policy Research uncovered that Gore’s Nashville home guzzled 20 times more electricity than the average American household.

After the Tennessee Center for Policy Research exposed Gore’s massive home energy use, the former Vice President scurried to make his home more energy-efficient. Despite adding solar panels, installing a geothermal system, replacing existing light bulbs with more efficient models, and overhauling the home’s windows and ductwork, Gore now consumes more electricity than before the “green” overhaul.

Since taking steps to make his home more environmentally-friendly last June, Gore devours an average of 17,768 kWh per month –1,638 kWh more energy per month than before the renovations – at a cost of $16,533. By comparison, the average American household consumes 11,040 kWh in an entire year, according to the Energy Information Administration.

In the wake of becoming the most well-known global warming alarmist, Gore won an Oscar, a Grammy and the Nobel Peace Prize. In addition, Gore saw his personal wealth increase by an estimated $100 million thanks largely to speaking fees and investments related to global warming hysteria.

“Actions speak louder than words, and Gore’s actions prove that he views climate change not as a serious problem, but as a money-making opportunity,” Johnson said. “Gore is exploiting the public’s concern about the environment to line his pockets and enhance his profile.”

I'm glad he won the peace prize. Good for him. I like the way it has brought people
forward to think harder, and pay attention to our earth, and the younger generations
will work harder now, and be better than we are, and so on and on.

I don't care about the politics of it, people just can't stand it, cause he is a democrat,
and the whiners aren't.

When I was a kid, no one gave a second thought to caring for the earth, NOW THEY DO.

It's another step in the right direction, global warming or not, we all should do better.

Yep.

The Swedish Academy awarded Al Gore the Nobel Peace Prize.

Didn't what's his name? ah....you know, uglier than a sheep's arse, founder of the PLO.....Yasser Arafat!!!! He won it too, didn't he?

Ever read The Tin Drum by Gunther Grass?

That won the Nobel Prize for Literature.

Them boys at the academy are smoking some WICKED weed, and have a twisted sense of humour.

I fail to be impressed.
Yeah, kinda like how I lost respect for Jeopardy and the Oscars. Jeopardy contestants are given the topics so they can study and the Oscars are campaigned for like political positions. I am not impressed by Nobel prize winners anymore either.

Gore's Hypocrisy Exposed in New Video: His Entourage's Lincoln Town Car Outside Global Warming Speech Idles w/ AC Cranking for 20 Minutes! - We're back from Al Gore's big global warming speech, and boy did we have a great time! We had a dedicated band of taxpayer advocates out in force, pointing out the high economic cost of global warming alarmism - starting with $8 a gallon gasoline.

Of course, we saw plenty of hypocrisy -- especially the fact that Gore didn't ride his bike or take public transportation to the event. He didn't even take his Prius! Instead, he brought a fleet of two Lincoln Town Cars and a Chevy Suburban SUV! Even worse, the driver of the Town Car that eventually whisked away Gore's wife and daughter left the engine idling and the AC cranking for 20 minutes before they finally left!

Check it out in our video from the scene: (Ed Frank, Americans for Prosperity)

Of course Bush is the major stumbling block. He is to blame for everything and is the easiest target. Now say that about China and then we'll see how sharp the GW Religion is.

I just love how all of the attendees of the Balli Conference flew in on private jets, had limos pick them up. There were so many private jets inbound to Balli that once they dropped off their few passengers they had to fly to other airports to make room for even more private jets. Burning up more fossil fuels and pumping (once again) vast loads of C02 into the atmosphere as they always do. What peace was he awarded for, the planet is about to burn with war. I know what i'd give him a peace of.

Hypocrisy reigned in Bali. Nothing more. That is why it is indeed a myth.

I agree, they should have all traveled there in a sailing ship with oars and fished along the way, everyone of them is a useless bag of foul wind led by Gore the boor. What peace was he awarded for, the planet is about to burn with war. I know what i'd give him a peace of.

Well, whether Al Gore is worthy or not, is not important to me, but I do think it is
a good thing that, what he contributed to the cause, keeps everyone aware and
thinking about the earth, and how we should care for it. It is our home, and we should
be better 'housekeepers', and not the 'slobs' we have been over the years.
Which reminds me, I'd better clean up the dishes, into the dishwasher, wipe the
counters, and I'm off to bed, as the letters on this computer are beginning to run
together, I'm tired, good night all.

All I can say about this is that the scientists who are blaming global warming on greenhouse gas emissions had better be wrong!

In 2012 the Kyoto Treaty expires, in the five years leading up to that China and India are scheduled to bring on over 850 coal plants to generate power and these plants will produce over 5 times the emissions that Kyoto was supposed to stop...and the world isn't anywhere near the emissions cuts Kyoto proposed.

My view is that those saying GHG emissions are causing global warming are most likely correct and that we probably do have very little time to act before we cause tremendous damage to our environment, but even if Canada and the US stop emitting GHGs tomorrow, that won't fix the problem and might not even dent it.

Unless we are prepared to invest untold billions of dollars NOW and radically change the way we live in order to get our own houses in order and then subsidize countries like China, Brazil and India to the tune of untold billions of western tax dollars to adopt this new technology, we had better start investing untold billions of dollars in adapting to the future climate.

Just try telling people in a recession that their taxes are not only going up, but they are going to China...checkmate.

Well said and so true. No matter what, we are done for. In 1967 this was predicted and no-one listened and look at what that neglect brought us. Invest mega billions, will not matter because China and the U.S. do not care. Making money is their game and if we all start to die off the rich will be the last to go, but they will go saying `why didn't I /we listen`. Too late. Personally I am on my way out so I won't see it.
It was avoidable but the "dollar" rules. What are you going to do with the dollar when everything is gone as well as yourself?
