Still digesting them.

In the late 1990s under a leftist administration in Iran we routinely held protests in the streets against the regime. There was hope for a regime overthrow. But then the tensions began and naturally people started to rally around the flag.
Change only comes in times of peace, and in times of tension like right now we all have to shut up. I may hate my brother but if some stranger came in our house I'd help defend myself and my brother.
That's the mindset right now.
Hi, Tim;I deeply fear a US attack on my country because it would set back reforms 20 years. The best case scenario is that nothing happens from now until next June, and then certainly Ahmadinejad won't be re-elected. If an attack does occur however Ahmadinejads far right government will be re-elected and it will be downhill from there.
I admire his confidence!
Not a fanatic, I think, just a strong will to survive!!!Confidence or fanaticism? I think they might be indistinguishable.
Hi, Tim;
don't fear - Ahmadinejad is here!;-) Read this....
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has played down the threat of an armed conflict between his country and the United States or Israel.
"I assure you... there won't be any war in the future," he said in Malaysia.

Ahmadinejad said the US people would not allow Bush to strike.

I admire his confidence! Israel and the US have tried to scare him silly... yet, he doesn't buckle under.
I didn't vote for the guy, and I'll do everything I can to make sure he's not reelected in June, but he's not the evil monster he's being made out to be by some in the West.Trusting that scum bug Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is like playing Russian roulette.
The world would be a better place with out him around.

First of all, he's not gonna attack Israel or anywhere else unless Iran's attacked first.The Iranian people deserve to be under no threat from any country on the globe. The Iranian people need to rise and completely remove the extreme right from power in order for freedom of speech freedom of expression to take place so all Iranian citizens can live peacefully. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will hurt Iran if he attacks Israel.

Second, I absolutely agree with your sentiments about this regime. Look, all through the 1990s we protested openly for reform and in many cases against this regime, I have the pictures to show you. But our efforts have been suffocated in the past few years because of all the threats against our country, which has made self-criticism more difficult and has made people rally around the flag. Change only comes in times of peace, and in times of tension like right now people just tend to shut up.

The Israelis won't do anything, they're just trying to goad the Americans to fight their war for them. And I don't think Ahmadinejad's said anything particularly outrageous. Most of the comments like the "wipe off the map" deal that are so often repeated in the US are mistranslations and have been proven to be so by Western sources.The idiot has to learn to shut up. If he carries on ranting the vile garbage he is, I wouldn't blame Israel to take him out...

It's not up to them. The Israelis, their fellow tribesman (the neoconservatives), and the Israeli lobby are all pushing for a war against Iran that would only be in Israel's interests. There's no sufficient justification for an attack on Iran if you're the United States. Not unless you say you're willing to go to war to defend the interests of Israel.I disagree, the yanks don't want another unwanted, unjustified war.
