I am on a notebook, but pressing that hotkey doesn`t change it back....
Further, why would you lie when you get only one vote and have to have your name on a list É
So why even ask for id at all?![]()
Exactly. And calmer minds could easily develop a method to allow these women to uncover themselves. For example, they could be taken aside by other women for verification. This is Canada, we can and should be accomodating to our Muslim citizens.Using the technology we have now and the interpretation of the laws we have, if anyone can determine who people are to a high standard that is now in place or better then I'm all ears.
Until then religion or not, a clear view of the face is not outrageous to ask.
I guess you missed the whole treaty thing is class???Sure, it's the same with reserves. If it were me I'd retake them as Canadian and assimulate the natives as Canadians and stop the welfare states we have created.
Face it, the Indians lost.
That's becuase you know them...I highly doubt that Elections Canada will have that luxury.Lets be fair here, I can tell the muslim women who wear veils I know apart by their eyes just fine. Now there is no law saying they can't show their face, so we think we get to dictate morality and tell them they HAVE to show more of their face.
Only if the writers for MAD TV become leaders in Canadian politics.Lets just force women to go against their own modesty and moral objections if they want equal rights then.
Its no different, sure YOU don't think showing the face is immodest and many many women around the world don't see going topless as immodest (nor do our laws). I wouldnt' force a woman to take her shirt off to vote though.
Great, very scientific. I don't care...traditions, system of tried and semi trued experience are here and should stay.A face is not a good way to validate someone is who they say they were, I shaved and wore different clothes not a week ago as a joke on some old friends I hadn't seen in two months. I sat the table across from them for 2 hours at a dinner as they got pissed off and tried calling my cell, not 4 feet from me. Visual ID is nice, but its laughable with security.
And as soon as the Lawyers are done wiping their arses with that and the Charter, we'll be right back at square one.If you really care about ensuring someone is who they say they are and not about forcing people to either subject themselves to our oggling eyes and way of life or be cut out from government...
Then lets get somethign that works like, Ida know, Finger printing.
Thanx for the moment of clarity. That being said, the law is the law. Its not for elections canada to decide. Its for the courts to decide unless the governments use the notwithstanding clause.
Yes...so long as they pay for it.Do you think parents have the right to demand what is taught with respect to evolutionÉ
Thanx Sparrow.A point that no one has mentioned is that in the Charter of Rights of Quebec and Canada it stipulates EQUALITY especially between men and women regardless of your religious beliefs.
Also the Law C-31 passed by royal assent last June changes the rules to bring into effect one proof of identification with visual verification. How can this happen with veils?
Even the head of the American Islamic Congress says NO WAY.
So long as they keep in mind they're going to hell and they do not follow the one true religion.Exactly. And calmer minds could easily develop a method to allow these women to uncover themselves. For example, they could be taken aside by other women for verification. This is Canada, we can and should be accomodating to our Muslim citizens.
And this somehow makes it all better? So, what is your answer now that it's been shown that a person is required to have photo id, OR two other pieces of id, OR a piece of ID and someone to vouch for them, but that there is NO requirement to show your face?
And what about the fact that the head of Elections Canada actually POINTED THIS OUT when the regulations were being drafted, and PARLIAMENT didn't bother to change it?
Who looks stupid now? Oh, right, it's HARPER.
Thanx, good point...If someone reads this http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Canada/2007/09/10/4484435-cp.html It sure seems as if everyone is dancing around the question and nobody is leading............
