So ....WHAT is the REAL motive behind the tariffs?? One can safety assume it is NOT drugs or excessive illegals crossing into the US from CDA.
Trump is making this into an over blown "emergency" in his EO ( he is governing by EO aka decree )
Trump's reference to CDA becoming the 51 state is not idle musing on this bully' s part. He hopes to divide, weaken CDA economically and then , when it is vulnerable , incorporate CDA as the 51 state.
What is interesting is that many would be happy to see this happen. That suggests loyalty to the US as opposed to CDA........which weakens CDA even further. It is bad enough that Ottawa is in disarray.......... with leadership in crisis , , and Alberta wanting to accommodate Trump .
The timing is incredible. The US is now terrified of Trump.....and is unable to stand up to him as is done in a democracy..... making Trump the Emperor/ authoritarian leader that they voted for. Trump has amassed control over their gov't. the population, and has used fear tactics and threats to achieve that . Now , he will use that power to expand the US territory if he can or is allowed to.
Sadly, the Americans still have no idea of what they voted into power. They are so mesmerized with the movie version of "strength and power and see it in him........and like it.

CDA mistake has been to be too trusting of the southern neighbor. It is so intertwined with them...........lilttle wonder Donny's wee brain came up with trying to get CDA to be part of the US.
It would seem that those that support this from Trump............ can MOVE there .....and leave the rest of us to rebuild CDA as a more independent nation. This is MAJOR.............on so many levels now. CDA might be at the crossroads of its young life.
Trump's excuse for the tariffs have little if any substance and are not born out with facts. One crippling fact is that CDA has allowed itself to become far too defendant on the US. Now , it can jerk CDA around ............or try to, by the certifiable bully ( serious personality disorder) to the south.

The destroyer in chief has done a lot of damage in just a few short weeks. We have FOUR LONG years of him ahead......as he will continue to reshape the world into the image of Trump. He is a TYRANT by definition.......who will resort to punitive measures to have HIS way. Good by America as we knew it.
Just imagine with Trump in the big chair , within a couple of years you will be standing at attention with your hand on heart while singing “ Oh say can you see “

If it wasn't for the far left government that OntariOWE and Quebec forced on us, there would be no need to rebuild anything.
Trump has two interests in Canada, our natural resources, and the North West Passage.
Actually, Trump has done a lot of good for Canada. Mostly by forcing our worthless politicians and bureaucraps to do their jobs. Simple things like remove provincial trade barriers.
What provincial trade barriers have been relaxed ?

You seem pretty gleeful about it, Boomer.
You must admit it is less painful to sit back and laugh . We have zero control what politicals on both sides of the border will do . Best to just sit back relax and laugh . Americans voted for Trump and they have to live with him for four years , conversely we Canadians voted for nice hair and legalized weed and have been paying for it since . Nine years later .

i feel sorry for the people who have to sing the star spangled banner. to avoid that, they should tell the anthem singers not to sing the anthem until after the terroriffs are lifted.

i suspect what this is really about is that justine got caught on hot mikes dissing trump.
What its about a highly dependant trade and social partner standing around with their arrogant thumb up their ass ignoring the fact both are under attack and both on the brink of bankruptcy.

We're both in deep shit and one is expecting to do fuck all and let the other do the fighting back.

A tariff is a duty.. who pays the duty.. not Canadians. (well now we do because of Trudeau)

The 25% tariff that Trump imposed on Canada is a consumption tax for US Citizens.

We sell lumber to a wholesaler in Washington state, they pay the shipping, duties (tariffs) and they raise their price to make a profit.

The developer in say Seattle comes in and buys that wood, the tariff is already prices in at this point.

The developer builds a house in Seattle, the US Citizen home buyer buys the house.. the home buyer (US Citizen) ultimately pays the tariff.

Canada already has a 35% advanage with the Canadian dollar being so low, it would not have hurt us to wait, rather than Trudeau with his hatred for Trump go all Rambo with retaliatory Tariffs and playing this up like a Liberal win. It's not.

The Tax and Spend Liberals adding their tariff is laughing at Canadians with another tax, and they make off like bandits.

Rolling thunder. That's exactly what it is.

Of course, that may have effects on Americans' spending habits, which could in turn have an effect on Canadian exports, but the ONLY people directly paying more to the government are Americans.

Yay, Trump!

I have always said Canada has a 3rd world infrastructure.

Dwight D. Eisenhower understood the importance of connecting the USA by Interstate, rail and ports..

Canada needs a Dwight D. Eisenhower leader right now..

Build the Energy East pipeline, create three 4 lane interprovincial highways from Eastern to Western Canada, LNG plants, ports, refineries and remove trade barriers between provinces.

I have said this 1000 times and every time I was ridiculed for it.. now it's every Canadian politicians punchline.
