Good grief...
Sure, there might be people out there "pretending" to be non-binary. Or anything else really.
Part of that could be due to this idea it's "neat" or "Cool" or some bullshit.
Part of the reason could be people use the internet in lieu of actual doctors to self-diagnose who they are, because there are no doctors - or specialists - in their area to help them figure things out. Or it takes years to see someone.
The thing is, people who are "pretending" - AREN'T non-binary. Just like idiots who claim to "pretend" to be trans, aren't trans. Or people who claim to be "Good people" when they aren't.
People pretend a lot.
But the article from the get go admits there are genuine non-binary people. Instead of focusing on their struggles, as usual it's focused on the "fakers" because putting the story of more non-binary people being fakers, makes readers think ALL non-binary people are fakers (sub in non-binary for trans and you get the same deal).
Interesting opinion, but as usual harmful to the people he even says:

So the rule is you accept peoples choices about themselves unless you feel they are pretending? If they want to pretend to be trans or pretend to be non-binary (whatever the hell that is) let them. Who cares. People live their own life. Let them.
Well people who are "pretending" usually end up outing themselves as pretenders. At which point, depending on what it is, deal with it appropriately (if someone is 'pretending' to be trans, for example, as a "social experiment" or as a "way to sneak into women's change rooms"; that doesn't make them trans, that makes them assholes and disgusting POS people who need to be dealt with. Something that the anti-trans brigade don't get.)

So myself, I'm under that 'non-binary' umbrella. Thankfully my dysphoria isn't as extreme as some can have.
But agreed - who cares, people live their own lives, let them... even if they're pretending, so long as it's not harming anyone else, so what?
