That's what I like about you. You don't ignore information that's contrary to your pre-loaded position.

Most of the Men of Westernesse would swear with their last breath that not one single Canadian wants an EV and it's all an EEE-vil plot by the Commie Nazi Soshulist Libruls to DESTROY CANADUH!
I know lots of people that would consider an EV if they were practical and affordable. In cold and rural areas, they simply don't cut it. The other, more practical problem is the lack of charging infrastructure. Much of our electrical distribution system simply cannot take an EV charger in every home. Then there is the question of the small communities and work camps whose power is supplied by diesel generators. Even the most ardent EV freek would have to admit charging EVs with diesel power is not too bright.

When EV’s can stand on their own competitively without subsidies with comparable range and reliability to ICE vehicles, plus some advantages over ICE vehicles…ICE vehicles will fade into a niche market and then go away on their own.

The Government de jour forcing the transition upon us with a technology that’s just not ready yet isn’t the way in my opinion.

Where TS lives there is zero issue with cold cold. Our normal winter temp is 7 °or 8° different. The only difference is the cold snaps. We blow them away in warm from May to October. Hours of sun and warmth... nobody in Canada has as good. Full stop.

In December, the federal government announced a plan that seeks to end sales of gasoline-powered or diesel-powered cars, SUVs, crossovers and light-duty pickup trucks in Canada by 2035. (Emergency and fire-fighting vehicles are excluded…I wonder why…not!).

Just like with the DEF/PDF Fiasco, Emergency & Firefighting & Military & Government (on the Federal, Provincial, & RM levels) need reliable functional vehicles without the crazy added expenses…but Shhh…

Ottawa and Ontario have already doled out billions in help to two battery manufacturing plants in the province, including $13.2-billion in federal production subsidies last April, for a new EV. battery plant to be built by Volkswagen in St. Thomas, Ont. Last July, the two governments announced subsidies for a Stellantis-LG Energy Solutions EV battery manufacturing plant in Windsor, Ont., worth up to $15-billion.

That’s a lot of handouts, subsidies, tax deferrals, etc…& the federal government is welcoming reports that Japanese automaker Honda is considering building an electric-vehicle factory in Canada, which is scrambling to become a leader in all elements of the EV market. Wonder what the taxpayers price tag on Honda’s consideration will be?
It’s not clear whether the federal or Ontario governments will offer subsidies for a Honda EV plant. But both Ottawa and the province have a track record of financial assistance for the EV sector. 😉

Easy to spend when it is not your money and there are no consequences when things go south .

Where are the minerals/components for the batteries coming from for the EV's since mining is pretty much banned in Canada?

It's time for a new vehicle pour moi in the 1st quarter. What it will be for propulsion is yet to be decided. 450-500km range would acceptable but 900-1000 would be better. Half breed? Gasoline? All electric? Hydrogen?
The Tesla cybertruck may not work well but will be worth a lot of money one day. Similar to a Pacer.

Even with all of the taxes thrown on top of the cost of fuel at the pumps in Canada, ICE vehicles, with our climate and geographical spread, are still probably the wiser of the two choices between this and electric (fully electric, I mean).
Halfbreed makes the most sense but Id rather a diesel halfbreed than gasoline if there were.

That appears to be the "sense of the people" down here too. Heard this morning that hybrid sales are up 43%.

All-electric, 2.5%.
