Here's why home schooling won't work:
School is also babysitting for parents.
Considering it takes both parents nowadays to be able to afford kids, you can't keep one of them home to teach. Hell, look at how most parents dealt with Covid, okay for a while, then freaking out when they realize their precious ISN'T so awesome and a right royal brat when it comes to education.
So no, you're not gonna get home schooling/home education to be a thing ever.
One of the reasons both parents are working is because of the $25 billion the provincial government is blowing out on education. The upper crust set that up nicely though a few years back with income splitting so that work within the home be recognized. Of course they were joking about their partners doing the actual work at home.
Believe me something would come along that would cater to the market. If I remember correctly I was studying about the Egyptians in Grade 8 at age 13. The topic has been relevant possibly twice in 50 years which is nice but hardly essential knowledge. I would rather have done my two hours online and been off to a baseball academy answering to my mother.
You don't have to make a big deal about the home schooling. Everyone has their own path. The decision about education comes when they are 18 and possibly required to show competency before being admitted to university. Universities will grab every dollar so no worries on admission there.
I have never once used the power of ten stuff I learned in Grade 4. Glorified baby sitting is all it is.
