But they aren't the only ones and the 'blame' is more complex than you realize.

Yeah, but what do epidemiologists know? Their "instinct for science" is so bad they have to actually STUDY to do it!

Unlike His Lardship and his merry band of psychopaths, who can just whomp up a new drug, or a new computer, or a car out in the middle of the woods with no tools nor materials!

Personally I don't think it matters where the virus came into Canada from; it's here and that's all that matters right now.

Perhaps it matters in terms of "contact tracing"........ but outside of that...........the important thing is how one deals with it. The blame game is an exercise in futility........ and rather childish.(as is any form of finger pointing...... ....particularly when we are talking major number of body bags world wide.

You can't control the kind of cards one is dealt, but you CAN control how one plays them.

bTW: from the reports I hear , N.B. is handling it very well......and is showing good results. Cudos to you in NB.

Not much. I'm semi-retired. I mostly work in the fields of telecommunications and energy. In other words, I represent companies with the Federal Communications Commission and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. I produce a monthly "summary," i.e., a gossip sheet, for eight clients, and sell it where I can, and I represent these eight and occasional one-time clients before the FCC and the FERC. I usually work 2 days a week from the downtown office of the firm I'm associated with, and a day or two a week from home. Only difference is now I'm working from home all the time. This kind of work has been on-line for quite a while now, the only big difference is no face-to-face meetings. Phone or videoconference instead.

We got seriously lucky though I think most of the doc's were thinking we'd get hit cause of Ontario and Quebec. But so far we only had 118 cases with 114 recovered, 0 in hospital and no deaths.


We got dumbly lucky, IMO.


We're still carrying out protocols though, questions for anyone coming into the hospital, no visitors, masks at all times, gowns when needed. We're easing up on things now; we can visit one family or friend if we wish, but only one. Parks and such are open, ATV trails are not (don't get that one). Fishing is okay, some other things, but it's all dependent on our numbers; it starts rising everything shuts down again.

Chinese researchers said it came from the lab in the very first Chinese study into its origin. Beijing didnt like that and tried to kill that paper but it's still floating around.

MPs issue mandatory summons for WHO's Bruce Aylward to testify before committee

OTTAWA — Members of Parliament have issued a mandatory summons to Canadian World Health Organization expert Bruce Aylward, after he turned down repeated invitations to testify to a House of Commons committee.
Aylward is the renowned epidemiologist who led a team of WHO experts to China to study the COVID-19 outbreak in February.
He and the WHO have come under criticism by some in Canada for his report on China's ability to curb the spread of the viral disease, which has since become a worldwide pandemic.
Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer in particular has raised concerns about the accuracy of the WHO's data on COVID-19, and China's influence on the international organization.
"This committee was tasked unanimously with studying Canada's response to COVID-19," Conservative health critic Matt Jeneroux said of the Commons health committee's mission.
"The WHO has played a key role in that response. The government has been relying on data from the WHO and has been implementing measures here in Canada based on the WHO's recommendations."
The committee has invited Aylward to testify by video conference from Geneva, Switzerland, twice in the last month.
He turned them down and the WHO instead offered to answer written questions.
NDP health critic Don Davies said while written answers would be helpful, the chance for MPs to ask questions would be far better.
"I would note for the record that Dr. Aylward has done interviews ... with media outlets," Davies said Thursday. "The WHO has been willing to make Dr. Aylward available to answer questions to the media, so I don't see any principled reason why they would not make Dr. Aylward available to this committee to answer similar questions.
The committee voted unanimously Thursday to issue a mandatory summons, but it can only be enforced once he returns to Canadian soil.
Aylward's final report upon his return from China at the end of February included praise for China's methods and effectiveness in slowing the spread of COVID-19.
He noted that during his time in China there was a steep decrease in new cases in the country, fever clinics were seeing fewer and fewer people showing up for assessments and treatment beds were opening up.
"This decline in COVID-19 cases across China is real," he noted in his report.
The accuracy of that data and China's transparency about the true extend of the epidemic at the time have since been called into question in Canada and abroad.

Edmonton police fraud probe helps recover $1.5M worth of PPE, industrial equipment

An investigation by the Edmonton Police Service's Economic Crimes Section has helped a number of Canadian and American companies recover over $1.5 million worth of personal protective equipment and industrial equipment that police allege was fraudulently ordered.
"The online scheme targeting PPE, industrial and electronic equipment companies in Canada, the United States and Australia, has seen the suspects impersonating various commercial companies, including Clean Harbors, a large North American environmental, energy and industrial service provider," police said in a news release issued Thursday.
Police alleged the suspects would then contact suppliers using altered emails, the names of company executives and illegally obtained credit reference information to get shipments of equipment, "including the highly sought-after N95 masks."......More
