Re: COVIDD-19 'Pandemic'

Which proves absolutely nothing, I generally try to follow current logic and knowledge.

I bet you've been out shopping with a cold or a flu before, without stopping to think: "I'd better not go outside. I've got a virus which kills thousands in Canada every year. I don't want to kill anyone."

Why it should be so different with coronavirus just strikes me as pointless virtue signalling.

Re: COVIDD-19 'Pandemic'

I think if you replace "lockdown" with "severe restrictions", you'll have your answer.
I drove along Zero Avenue yesterday . At Pacific Border Crossing and again at Aldergrove a big flashing sign , border open for essential travel only . There is a large motor home just inside Canada that all travellers must stop at to get registered and show their isolation plans , no plans off to lockdown for fourteen days .
As well driving along there were groups of people sitting on either side of the border visiting . Maybe Gerry can explain why they are visiting friends and family at the border if they could just as easily cross . I travel that road frequently and have only seen farmers on either side talking once in a while .
Another thing I noticed yesterday , after this phenomenon got news play this week , we now have a Canadian Police presence monitoring the situation .
Last weekend went by both Saturday and Sunday no Canadian authorities . Lots of U.S. border patrol though . There always is mind you .

Re: COVIDD-19 'Pandemic'

Well, I am, sadly, forced to admit that I haven't risen to the dizzying heights of "warehouse worker in a suburb of Manchester," but I do OK.
Different strokes and all that, eh what, old bean?

Well, quite...

Re: COVIDD-19 'Pandemic'

Good to see a little common sense on this forum. It's in very short supply at times. I've left my house a dozen times or more since the endemic started w/o once being questioned or looked at weirdly. If you follow the rules, it's likely no one will bother you. If you act like an idiot and go on protest marches you'll likely end up in jail. :)
We rarely jail protesters here , shit you can stop a railroad and not get jailed .

And I'm proud to say that I am classed as a key worker - that's why I still have to go to work when most other people are on holiday - and am therefore one of the heroes that the Briy public thank every Thursday evening.

Re: COVIDD-19 'Pandemic'

seems you are not coping with the current situation a l that well. Being over emotional about it is counterproductive......... You might think about finding an outlet for your anger.
Well OB that particular poster loves to call people he disagrees with certain names , he is just getting some payback . Though I disagree with your philosophy and tease your writing style I don’t believe I have ever called you derogatory names .

You're missing one highly important fact. Most rules are in place to be sure to catch the lowest common denominator, the idiots like yourself. As it's not possible for law enforcement to always discern who is an idiot and who isn't, it's much easier if we all just abide by the rules until this temporary situation passes. I know it's tough for people like you whose body language immediately classifies them as "lout". Sometimes you can "get away" with a lot just being subtle, humble and sensible, but those who can't stick out like a "wedding prick".

Re: COVIDD-19 'Pandemic'

It's still not locked down. As a matter of fact, trudeau is now allowing asylum seekers to cross at regular border crossings. They sure as hell can't be classified as essential, and neither can tourists and snow birds.
Great , please don’t come to Canada through the back door come in the front door instead . He told the country that Rohan Road was shut down yet people are still crossing there .
Great example for those who try to come through legal channels .

Re: COVIDD-19 'Pandemic'

https://globalnews.ca/news/6863544/blaine-higgs-nb-covid-19-recovery-plan/

Despite some arguing whether or not the numbers were right... here's highlights.

Golf courses will be allowed to open while keeping their clubhouses and restaurants closed, fishing and hunting seasons will go forward and use of outdoor spaces will be permitted.

The easing of social restrictions will begin with “two-family bubbles.”
Effectively, two households would be able to mutually decide to include one another in their family unit and physical-distancing requirements would be dropped for them.

Post-secondary programs that have hands-on requirements will be permitted to operate with strict controls.

For New Brunswickers of faith, outdoor or “drive-in” religious meetings will be allowed to occur.

In a nut shell, the 'lockdown' being maligned by Blackie and Wally worked in NB with six plus days of lowering numbers, now we're easing back to 'normal'.

The lockdown worked.

If people listen.
Golf courses have been open here for the duration of the lockdown .

Re: COVIDD-19 'Pandemic'

We'll see.

With NS numbers still all over the place, their border is still shut down.

I'm just hoping the slow open in NB doesn't lead to a second wave. Bad enough that we're looking for resurgence in the fall... :(
You really got hit hard by that first wave .

Re: COVIDD-19 'Pandemic'

Many of the cases you quote entail examples of "freedoms" that may put others at risk. I personally don't really want a "freedom" that comes at someone else's expense. That "someone" could include a relative, a best friend or your neighbour. What enjoyment could a person get out of a movie where he possibly infected a dozen other people?
You really got hit hard by that first wave . How many of your friends and neighbours perished from this disease so far ?

Re: COVIDD-19 'Pandemic'

So what you are inferring is you don't give a shit what 'freedoms' you enjoy regardless of whether they are putting others at risk or not. A classic case of "f**k you Jack, I'm alright".
We should maintain the lockdown forever , if it saves just one life .
