That is not presently the case , wages are rising for the least skilled workers . I know you wish that wasn’tt the case , but the American economy is strong unlike here in Liberal Canada .

We should keep in mind that there are many who do not want full time jobs and are quite happy working part time. Examples would be people retired from their life's work after age 55 or 65 or 75. Wives who have husbands employed at lucrative jobs and whose children have left the nest. There's one more thing to consider, in areas like the Okanagan the average house price is between $400 thousand and $600 thousand ...…………..that's just the average. Are the people occupying these houses working three jobs just to make ends meet and are one pay cheque away from living in a tent? Banks have pretty strict rules the past three years for qualifying for a mortgage.

I do most of the grocery shopping for my family and I'm in the supermarkets about twice a week. To be quite frank MOST of the shelves in the Supermarkets aren't stocked with the bare essentials to survive. Often I'm in a line up at the cashier and see the shit that passes through, like pop, chips, cheesies, sugar laden juices, sugar laden bakery items, a lot of stuff in jars and tin cans and as I've already told you disposable diapers.

Aside from the diapers (which really why your fixation on this?) do you know WHY people are choosing all the crap 'food'? Because when you compare it to a lot of other foods, and better for you foods, the sugary, fatty, salty crap is cheaper unless you're lucky enough to be in a city where you can find a market that sells veggies and fruits at a decent price.

Personal case in point - if I drive to my closest big "city", a half an hour away, I can get a decent amount of vegetables - depending on the season - for 20 to 40 bucks. If I go the other way to a larger town and am able to go to Wal Mart, it might cost me for those same veggies 30 to 60. In my home town, I'm looking at 50 at least for a lot of that stuff. Why? University town with a locked in population that can't travel, thus they charge a hell of a lot more for everything. So unless you're a university student (or even then), getting good food is sometimes out of reach.

Just to give you one more clue look at the size of land fills today compared with 60 years ago. On top of all that, for the ones who are really struggling there are the food banks! We live in a land of plenty.

When I was a kid, there were landfills and dumps.


Now it's all sent to be processed, separated, etc. and so on. In my area there's less, not more.



Food banks can only do so much, and it's TELLING when there are people who go to the food banks who supposedly make good money, either because they're azzholes and just want "free" food, or they really are struggling for some reason and need the extra help. Fuk knows I know a few people who needed to go there myself and their jobs weren't exactly great, but they weren't the worst, either. And if it wasn't for the help of my parents, I would have gone a few times myself, and I have a decent job. But the prices demanded for standard things like bills, mortgage and just food alone is insane.

Again, sure there are people who are living well/better now a days. But not ALL people are, some are worse off and there are some who ARE living paycheck to paycheck, making just the bare minimum to survive, or have to work 2 or 3 jobs TO survive.

Throw in the 6-700 a month minimum for an apartment in this town - nothing included - say 100 a month for phone/cable or phone/internet - unless you went just plain cell phone and didn't get a land line - and depending on your heat (mostly electric) that could run $150 plus depending on time of year, laundry money, cab money (if you don't have a car) at six bucks a one way trip (and if you're not in an apartment it's $60 or more for hydro, plus taxes for again, not in an apartment)... do not tell me a minimum wage can support someone well.
