There's a bit more to it than that. A lot of reading that I do is for entertainment, a lot of it is for learning. So if I make a statement that isn't valid (it probably happens a lot) so if it's corrected, THAT is helpful, but when you get sniped ALL it does is leaves you wondering and also puts in doubt the thought process of the sniper!
