Well the Bank of Canada has given us three successive rate increases . So what is it should the bank raise or lower interest rates ?With the trade wars happening, things are going to increase in price and cause inflation and the American Federal Reserve is going to raise rates using inflation as the excuse or reason. If Canada wants to attract money in order to finance our debt, we need to increase rates.
In addition; if American tariffs hit the Canadian auto sector and cause huge financial stress, the Bank Of Canada needs room to lower rates to give Canadians the feeling that the BOC is doing something.
