Too bad I won't be here to see him go sit with the Injuns in Wascana Park and campaign on taxpayer dollars as there is an upcoming by election in Regina.

What a creep. Using Injuns to up his game.

OK, been a while. Hello everyone. Here's LINKS to opposing views of the same issue...

One side: http://redpowermedia.wordpress.com/tag/protesters/
Other Side: ‘Disappointing:’ Canada Day events relocated due to protest | 980 CJME

Basic story, 3-4 months ago, a group set up a tent and a fire in the park (Wascana park) in Regina.
Anybody but this group would have been arrested, fined, & tossed out in under an hour I'm sure if
they attempted the same thing. This camp lasted 111 days before it was finally removed, but it was
back in a day or two, as laws are applied selectively to select groups.

Should one group be above the law in a situation like this? If anyone but this group tried this, would
it be allowed? I know someone whom is of different ancestry than the above protesters that is planning

on taking his Fifth Wheel RV down to the same park in a 'show of solidarity' with these protesters and
a ringside seat for the fireworks on Canada Day. Does anyone think this new camper will also be

embraced by the current protestors?, Law Enforcement?, etc...????

If he's not embraced, or is evicted immediately, and happens to be the only one of a differing ancestry,

then would racism be at play or only political correctness? Just curious as I didn't see a different thread
on this protest/whatever and wanted to read other opinions on this issue.

Petros, this is the closest I could find to a Thread on this topic. I'm sure Justin P. will find a

fantastic photo op on Canada Day in Regina. Curious to see what costume wardrobe comes
up with for this goat rodeo.

Campers at Legislature have no plans to comply with eviction notice | Regina Leader-Post

OK, I guess nobody has an opinion on this. Fair enough. Here's my opinion.

Personally, I'd love to see about another 10,000 'Campers' also show up and
ignore the laws and bylaws in place regarding Camping in Wascana Park,
erecting shelters, open fires, etc....as a president has now been set.

A long convoy of Travel Trailers and Fifth Wheel RV's. A free for all and screw
the rules that everyone else must follow. Tents and lean to's, tarps and second
hand sofas, fire pits and bonfires, rules are for some but not for all it would seem.
Where are the boundaries? How for beyond can this be pushed for one group but
not for others?

Meh....rules? Not for all, just for some. Party on!!! Take it to the next level now like
'Burning man' but in an Urban setting. There's no consequences so why not?

I have an opinion, Ron, but I think it's best left to Saskatchewanites to articulate theirs! My opinion doesn't change much...……...what I have to say on the matter is in every community in the country there are those who think laws are in place for everyone else except them, so when I see an example of it I'm not surprised. (Glad to see you back) :)

Canada Day will be interesting here in Regina. Justin Trudeau is coming to play...

It'll be...everything...I'm at a loss for words. I'm just so....it's like watching an accident
happen and not being able to look away.

This will be just too juicy of a photo op for Justin to avoid. The only term that
comes close to fitting is 'Goat Rodeo,' but we'll see it live in only a few days.

That fat white guy won't be sucking up to the criminals camping in Wascana Park
on Canada Day where 50 people above the law will make 50,000 who actually pay
for that park with their taxes move their celebration away from that area. The other

one will be be there glamorizing the anarchy as the local police hide under their own
skirts.

Trudeau to visit Regina on Canada Day | Regina Leader-Post

Trudeau is scheduled to visit Leamington, Ont., Regina, SK and Dawson City, Yukon — all on July 1???
For the hour or so he's on the ground in Regina, do you think our boy Justin will focus on the 50,000

celebrating Canada's 150th...or the 50 breaking the law for a photo op with a Tipi for a backdrop and then
back onto his plane?

I'm a bit confused about Justin's Canada Day itinerary. It was reported on C.B.C. radio in the past day or so that Justin would be stopping at Leamington, Regina and Dawson City for some sort of connection with INDUSTRY!! To connect with industry wouldn't almost any other town/city in Canada make more sense than Dawson City, given the time and cost involved, if in fact there is any industry in Dawson City, besides building snow shoes perhaps.

LINK: Protest camp remains, Moe wants it gone following meeting | 980 CJME

"Moe added he wanted the police to step in and remove the
camp as had been done previously. Regina Police chief Evan
Bray maintained he won’t do that so long as the protest remains peaceful. "

(which links to...)

The Provincial Capital Commission (PCC) is in charge of
Wascana Park. It said Wednesday morning that festivities
for Canada Day are being moved because of the Justice
for our Stolen Children camp. Some events which
would have been set up on the west lawn are now being
moved to the north side of the lake.

In a news release, PCC Executive Director Carrie Ross
said it’s disappointing that last-minute changes have to
be made because of an “illegal and unpermitted protest”.

“We have bylaws and permits in place to ensure Wascana
Park is available for everyone to use in a safe manner, and
we are again asking the Regina Police Service to enforce
the law.

The commission said this is the third time it has asked the
Regina Police Service to enforce the bylaws in Wascana
Park. The bylaws are against overnight camping, putting
up structures, and burning things.

Before that release was sent out, Regina Police Chief
Evan Bray said the police are assessing the situation
multiple times a day, but they’re leaving the camp as it
is for now.

“Ultimately, as a police organization, we often have to
assess a situation and measure what the response
best be to keep the peace, to maintain safety for
everyone in our city.” Bray said the protestors are
looking for some meaningful dialogue, and he’s
heartened that a meeting has been set up between
the protestors and provincial government for July 2.

(This is the next LINK to...)

She said Chief Edmund Bellegarde, with the File Hills
Tribal Council, set up the meeting. It will be held on
July 2 in Fort Qu’Appelle at the Treaty 4 signing ground.

So, following the bouncing ball, the protesters after
months of requesting meetings, but not in the building
they're protesting in front of....as they'd been invited to,
or in any building as that's too colonial...and when any of
the many politicians would come to the Tipi's over the
last several months, it would always be a bad time for
the protesters or some elder wasn't there or some other
person the protesters deemed important wasn't there or
whatever....now they'll accept a meeting but only after
disrupting the Canada Day Celebration for the 40,000 to
50,000 other people that will be using that park legally on
July 1st....but the meeting will be 45 miles away in Fort
Qu'Appelle? Not anywhere near the park they're camping
in? Really???

The group intends to keep the camp set up at least until
the meeting, which means it will still be up for the Canada
Day celebrations in Wascana Park.

And then what? Then the protesters will begin to follow
the same laws and rules that the rest of us have to follow
or we would face arrests and fines & other forms of
prosecution? Then the RPS will enforce the law and do
their job?

P.S. Justin Trudeau will be there for a few minutes
on Canada Day between stops in Leamington ON &
Dawson City Yukon....

“We manage risk. Our goal is the safety of every person in this
community — and not doing something that we think would
jeopardize that. We think there is optimism for resolution.”

That was Regina police Chief Evan Bray, explaining why RPS
will not end an occupation of Wascana Park by activists despite
four requests to act by the Provincial Capital Commission.

From the operatic sentiment 150 years ago, that “a policeman’s
lot is not a happy one,” no one ever said that policing is easy.
Like a good referee, cops need to know when to look the other
way and when to enforce the law without favour, preference or
prejudice.

Chief Bray’s explanation is understandable, but incorrect in
refusing to eject Indigenous protesters from Saskatchewan’s
most famous park surrounding the Legislature. While sources
at Regina police headquarters say that the Wascana issue
is just some bylaw,” the chief knows that modern policing has
undergone significant changes that make it a hybrid of social
work and political gymnastics, lest a cop ever offend a growing
list of entitled and noisy activists.

The earliest principles of policing, from Sir Robert Peel in the
1820s, still resonate today: policing’s purpose is to prevent
crime and maintain order; its goal is to achieve voluntary
compliance with the law in the community. And, according to
Peel, the police must be unwavering in their duties and
adherence to the law, maintaining impartiality and not being
swayed by public opinion. Peel first coined the creed
serve and protect.”

Surely, the Provincial Capital Commission and the
provincial government bear some responsibility. Back
in February, on the day that a group of squatters with
an ill-defined and fuzzy Indigenous rights message
arrived, they should have been accommodated with a
meeting and then summarily packed up after their
tents and teepee spent the first night illegally erected
in the park.

Now, more worried about “risk” (precisely what risk is
not explained) and implying that police action would
actually jeopardize public safety, the police refusal to
enforce the law sends the message that it’s OK to
flout laws as long as someone feels strongly enough
about their protest issue.

Oddly, the police are also engaging in a hierarchy of
grievances, which should be explained to the
community. If Indigenous rights warrant a police
non-response in an iconic park, what about other
causes in the same park and other locations?

Recall marijuana activists who were dealt with
firmly — arrested and charged, their premises
raided and closed by RPS, all in the interests
of enforcing the law. This was done despite
the fact that within a few months existing laws
against storefront medical marijuana sales will
be rendered moot when all cannabis can be
publicly purchased.

The disturbing part of the Regina police position
is that it strains the fabric of community support
and respect for the rule of law and for the police
we trust to enforce it. If the police pick and
choose which protests and grievances are
acceptable, why have restrictions at all in
Wascana or any park?

Just think, from politics to poverty, disability
rights to children’s issues, racialized concerns
to unions, reproductive choice and a range of
other activism, tents should be able to set up
in Wascana Park at any time, interrupting
Canada Day or other events.

And none of this should concern the Regina Police
Service (or us), so long as they “manage risk,” keep
people safe and remain optimistic that everything
will eventually work out.

Northern Ontario,
Those tipis went up Justin time.
Remember the "Idle no more" blockades from years ago?
Well....Here in Kap...It was just a short Parade by the Crees In town for the summer escaping the floods up north every year.
It was well organized to not interrupt the normal traffic in town....

I guess we have a better class of "Injuns" up here!

‘A catalyst for change:’ Protest camp powwow | 980 CJME

Hundreds flooded Regina’s Wascana Park
Saturday afternoon for a powwow put on by
the Justice for our Stolen Children Camp.

The Trespasser’s Pow Wow: A Pre-Canada
Day Celebration included jingle dancers and
the addition of two more teepees from Carry
the Kettle and Pasqua First Nations.

Protestors have a meeting scheduled in
Fort Qu’Appelle on Monday with the
provincial government.

Pitawanakwatt said she’s uncertain so
far about whether or not the camp will
stay up after, but Premier Scott Moe
has said he wants the camp taken down
following the meeting.

Ah yes. What happens July 3rd when the
Campers still camp? It's like watching an
accident happen in slow motion.

I sat and talked with Prescott the original protestor. He was open minded and a very reasonable guy.

I hope he is back there.

As for the others riding his coattails, they can f-ck right off.

I wonder if we'll see similar hate down here on our day of national unity.

I imagine so. A hundred times y'all's limpering about Trudeaubama.

Maybe y'all can gun down a couple of unarmed Induns in self defense.

Oh Christ, yeah, from the outside looking in.
Are you referring to "Colten Boushie" when
you fish for the the race card up your sleave
in reference to "unarmed Indians?" Is that

where you're going?

Part of the reason given originally for the camp
in Wascana Park was "Colten Boushie," or rather
Gerald Stanley only being fined and banned from

owning a firearm for 10yrs for defending his family,
himself, and his property on his own land.

I've got Lumber to go & buy.
I'll come back to this later when
I need a break.
