But you are, sweetie, or you wouldn't have responded. You're so easy to play.

Now, go see Mrs. Copiak. She has your bath water ready!
---

In politics, only fools do not take their adversaries seriously. We saw this with the Democrats in the last US presidential election. They all but ignored Trump. How will Wynne take on Ford?

Despite what some are saying about the PCs, Wynne's time in office is subject to review and her firing is a huge consideration by Ontario's voters. How will the PC handlers go forward during the campaign? Because of the turmoil with Patrick Brown, both the NDP and the Liberals don't know much about the PC election strategy.

That lack of knowledge may help the PCs in the coming weeks.

Is Doug Ford the populist hero Canadians are looking for?

If Ford can take over the PC party on March 10, his promise to fight for the little guy could well propel him to a Trump-like victory in Ontario
by Catherine McIntyre

White corriboard signs donning “Ford” in blue block letters are plastered between shrines of Hindu deities in the expansive hallway of the Sringeri Community Centre. In the past three weeks, Doug Ford has visited nearly every town in Ontario in a frantic bid to become the province’s next PC leader. Now in the final days of the race, he’s come home to an impassioned crowd of supporters in the Toronto suburb of Etobicoke.

Inside the ornate community hall—adorned with crystal chandeliers and red velvet accents—is a snapshot of Toronto. About half of the 450 attendees are visible minorities. Many are middle-aged or older and most are men, but a faction of youth and women have showed up as well. The crowd—Ford Nation—leaps to its feet, whooping and whistling as Eye of the Tiger booms over the sound system and Ford takes the stage with promises to make Ontario prosperous again. He’ll “sanitize the [PC] party,” he says, and eliminate taxes for anyone earning less than $30,000 a year. He’ll save the manufacturing sector and make housing affordable. He’ll get rid of job-killer Kathleen Wynne.

It’s hard not to draw comparisons between Ford and Donald Trump. Both are businessmen and political oddities who purport to shun the elite and speak for the working class. They harness fear of the future and nostalgia for the good ol’ days—for legacy industries and unbridled energy consumption. Both represent a growing appetite for populism among various disenfranchised demographics.

Ontario PCs elect drug dealer to replace sex criminal

TORONTO – After this weekend’s hard-fought leadership election, the Ontario Progressive Conservative party has proudly announced that they’ve elected Doug Ford, a former drug dealer, to replace Patrick Brown, a sexual monster.
“As a party, we got together and agreed that the PCs could do better than someone who gets very young women drunk in order to pressure them into sex,” said interim leader Vic Fedeli. “And by electing someone who dealt kilos of hash in the 80s, we’ve done just that. Technically.”
This is a huge step forward for the right-wing party, with PC leadership confident that their voter base will feel safe at night knowing that a pot kingpin is looking out for Canada’s largest economy.
“It’s not just about the economy. We’re the party of family values. Ask yourself: who would you rather have in charge of our children’s education?” said Fedeli. “A man who dedicated his life to employing teens on corners or a woman who thinks sex is okay?”

The honesty of the electoral process is in doubt more now than any time during my life. Electronic records can be easily altered.

As can paper. I don’t really have much doubt in the system. I don’t like our electoral system but I do trust the results whether my preferred candidate won or not.

A fair assessment. If you are going to fudge the result, winning by a hair is asking for trouble.

Dipper would be even worse if they are anything like the BCdippers.

If there is one thing BC and Alberta has proven lately it’s that provincial parties can be very very different from province to province even if they have the same name.

If you had told me 6 months ago that the Ontario Liberals were going to win yet another term in Ontario I would have said you were crazy.

I wouldn’t simply because they won the last two but by all rights shouldn’t have. I guess that’s what happens with voter turnout off 52% last time and 58% the time before. If people want change they should show up.

Minority my ass. After the June election: PC 80, NDP 32, Lib 12

Damn you changed your predictions twice on one page.

Like the past two elections, it is the opposition's to give away. My hope is that Ford and the campaign are kept on a short leach. And I would say that about any leader, not just Ford.

It's nothing if not entertaining. And it makes a welcome change from OB's endless "I hate Americans and Trump" threads.

It’s actually Analfloss who starts all the anti-trump threads.

"... a short leach" I nominate this one as the best Freudian slip on the forum.

Bill Davis was a good conservative.

I cannot offhand think of anyone less like Bill Davis than Doug Ford.

Take a good long look at his subway proposals for Toronto. They are literally mega projects with no budget or way to pay for them.

You could not pick a less credible financial adviser.
