Run them goalposts down the field!

The reason for the drop in murder rates is demographics. Less young men means less murder.

That simple.

The point is the rise in the number of firearms has NOT raised murder rates. There is no evidence it has had any effect at all.

First there are more young men in America now than there were in 1978.

Second you would have to prove that murder rates now are the same as they would be if the number of firearms had remained the same.

Get it?

Never mind. I was just being funny.

You obviously do not get it and have no intention of ever getting it.

I might as well be arguing abut climate change - this is just that pointless.

It is a debate.

That means you have to provide an argument.

Allow me. . .

Major Premise: The prevalence of guns in a society is tied to the violence rate in that society.

Minor Premise: The United States has a very high gun ownership rate.

Conclusion: You are a stupid, fascist poopy-head.

CanCon logic at its finest.

major premise: some people are athiest anti-gun zealots.

minor premise: if anything really bad happens, they will call 911, then pray to god that someone with a gun comes to save them.

it certainly is a slippery slope when the anti-gun lobby is really only against private ownership of guns ( police, military, and criminals get to keep their guns ).

imo, anti-gun is more about anti-rights than anything else.

Just want to have fun.....like girls....they just a want it, to have fun that is.

Anyways.....

Yeah, "just want"to make sure nuts like Cruz don't have guns.

Is this a slippery slope question?

I think it is.

Just so you know, I am a gun owner.

Browning 9mm.

Ever hunt bears with one?

I used to shoot those in the Forces but I never was tempted to hunt NCOs with one (amazingly enough).

Is there a graph for mass shoostings?

Yeah, that's swell.

How about instead of whimpering about how the evil government by the people and for them isn't trying to take your shiny toy away when they just want to prohibit nuts from getting weapons of mass destruction.

......or perhaps you think Cruz was qualified to own a fire arm that can blow people away on a large scale.

Thoughts and prayers......gout and layers....or whatever.

The entire point is that Cruz was NOT entitled to own the weapon, as he was reported to the FBI for making threats twice, and they failed to follow up.

But you know, idiots think the US Constitution should be burned because the state failed to do its job.

And idiots also think we should depend on the state to protect us.

Uh-huh

Talk about cognitive dissonance.

Or doublethink.

Yup, all violent crime has been on the decline. Only stupid people think they need a gun for protection. People that stupid really shouldn't have one

In order to believe in gun control, a person must believe:

1) a law abiding citizen that keeps a gun at home is paranoid, and

2) taking away all firearms in the country because a law abiding citizen might go batshit crazy is NOT paranoid.

so you had the means, and opportunity but you didnt have the criminal mind so you too didnt act on the evil messages that all guns transmit.

I also have the training, discipline and the understanding that bearing arms is a serious profession, not a hobby for wee-willy wannabees.

I agree. I wish more people were raised in a healthy responsible gun culture. It taught me to take safety extremely serious.

The anti-right motive is with the victims. It seems they are all linking up and voicing their displeasure of the possibility of dying before finishing school and they are not going to go away. They want the right to live. Further, many of those who are most vocal at the moment, will be voting in the 2020 election.

Reasonable gun control laws do make difference i.e., Canada, Australia, England, are a few examples. The ridiculous arguments about saving women from rapists, and the occasional store owner from a robbery do not do much to offset the rights to life of women shot by their husbands, boyfriends.

Please enlighten us on how the US gun culture is in any way healthy or responsible??

I've been involved as a leader in the Scout movement over the years and the younger leaders as horrified that I had my Marksman's badge, back when I was a kid (It no longer exists in Canada). Our leader was a little French Canadian powerhouse who was a retired Captain of the Van Doos (Italy AND Korea) and we learned military level firearms discipline when we were twelve years old.

their solution is to cut the apple tree down. we've already seen this with alcohol and marijuana. it doesn't work.

you can keep saying that but it still isnt true. It has already been established on this thread that Canada was a great place BEFORE gun control laws were passed. Please stop lying.

The ridiculous arguments about saving women from rapists....

wow. how can you be such a terrible human being? If it saves just one woman from a rapist, then it will be worth it.

Arming rapists is an interesting way to protect woman.

I am guessing woman are something you have no real experience with - so I guess you can be forgiven for not understanding them.
