So, are you proud of them for serving the corrupt UN? Your words, Post #61.

I am proud of them because they were in the Canadian Forces; the UN had nothing to do with that and they didn't have a choice when they were assigned overseas.

I still believe that the UN is still corrupt and should be dismantled!

So what's your point?

When has the Canadian military ever done anything to protect Canadian sovereignty?
When have we ever been attacked by anybody but the US??

I still believe that the UN is still corrupt and should be dismantled!
The UN certainly helped the US invade a number of countries since 1990.

That would leave the security council members to divide up the rest of the countries as part of their group, more abuse than what the past has brought to their door.

It would be easier to make a few changes, such as taking away the veto vote the security members now have and have any action be taken by citizens of those countries just do diplomacy is given all possible chances first. Move it to Jerusalem and let the Jews take a swing at being a world power by making them the military, economic advisors for all the nations that are not part of the security council members.

WW 2 a Japanese submarine shelled the lighthouse at Estavan Point on Vancouver Island .

During WWII, German U Boats sank 23 ships in the St.Lawrence river and Gulf if St. Lawrence Including the Corvette HMCS Charlottetown-10 dead and the Armed Yacht HMCS Raccoon-37 dead, no survivors. The most notorious was the sinking of the Porte aux Basques to N.Sydney ferry, SS Caribou with 137 dead including women and children. There is a new Canadian warship (AOPS) under construction in Halifax right now that will be named after a hero of that sinking, HMCS Margaret Brooke.

It's not as important as the Estavan light, I know, but little stuff like this still has some memory way out here in the Mysterious East.

You should be proud of them. You will find many servicemen are not fans of the UN, but quite proud of serving their country. Unfortunately, that means doing some things which you'd rather not be involved with - like doing UN duty.

Our Forces have done a far better job with their limited resources than most of the public can appreciate. I supposed that part of the proof is that it has happened quietly in the background while people slept.

So 'no' is the correct answer.

Bodies were washing up on the shores of the St.Lawrence River.

Out on the West Coast, the REAL outrage occurred when a Japanese Sub surfaced, fired 25 shells, missed, and then disappeared. A few days later, Canadian authorities figured out what had happened.

It was an OUTRAGE!

I knew little detail of those incidents but was aware there was U-boat activity in the St.Lawrence .

so the correct answer is that the Canadian Forces has nothing to do with protecting Canadian sovereignty , or at least has not in several decades.

From shells fired at the lighthouse?? Worst aim ever. It appears it still is an outrage.
So, 'No.' is the correct answer then??

. . . or at least has not in several decades that we haven't been at war with anyone.

I would argue that the wars we fight also have little to do with Canadian sovereignty.

The military will always exist to protect the sovereignty of the nation by force of arms. The entire era of 'peace keeping' was inextricably linked to globalism in trade and culture. It was deeply damaging to the moral and capabilities of the Canadian military and obscured its primary purpose. It was imposed on Canada as totems of gooey 'multiculturalism' by chickenshit post nationalist PMs like Mulroney, Chretien, Harper, Justin. It deserves to be ditched as ineffective internationally and destructive nationally.

OH NICE LIE-beral propaganda there! Just a charming stab in the back to blame Harper or Mulroney for peace keeping problems! There was no `peacekeeping of significance in the Mulroney years and it was Harper that made up ALL the deficiencies in equipment for the Afghan mission started by LIE-beral Chretien!

The duplicity of LIE-berals is STAGGERING!

Consider this LIE-beral hypocrisy:

Here is an older article illustrating that even a LIE-beral will sometimes feel a little shame- not often but once in a while! The article offers proof of the mess that LIE-beral values have degenerated into! With some comments of my own in brackets):

Hearing seeking easing of Omar Khadr's bail conditions cancelled

DEAN BENNETT, THE CANADIAN PRESS. FIRST POSTED: THURSDAY, AUGUST 31, 2017 07:31 AM EDT | UPDATED: THURSDAY, AUGUST 31, 2017 11:42 AM EDT

Former Guantanamo Bay prisoner Omar Khadr, 30, is seen in Mississauga, Ont., on Thursday, July 6, 2017. Lawyers for former Guantanamo Bay detainee Omar Khadr are to appear in an Edmonton court today seeking to ease his bail restrictions and grant him unsupervised visits with his sister.

(Zeynab Khadr is a highly suspect Muslim with a LONG HISTORY of making radical anti western statements. She has been married 4 times and each hubby was a terrorist-with several of her hubbies killed in gunfights with western military forces. Brother Omar has been ordered- as part of his bail conditions- to shun contact with radical Muslims- such as his sister!)

(WE can blame LIE-berals fro all this costly legal and national security mess! It was LIE-beral prime minister Jean Chretien who suffered a brain cramp and decided it would be a good idea to persuade Italian cops that they should release convicted bomb maker Khadr senior from their jail and let him immigrate to Canada! Once settled here, Khadr senior married and had a pack of Jihadist kids with his vile wife. Papa Khadr and one son were killed in a gun fight with U.S. forces, a second son was crippled for life and now sucks up huge amounts of Cdn medical resources and welfare, son Omar was badly wounded in a gunfight with U.S. forces and spent 10 years in Gitmo prison and upon his release, has become notorious for being awarded ten million dollars in blood money by muddle headed LIE-berals- and now Omar wants his bail restrictions lifted so he can be with his vile sister! What a waste of legal resources- especially right after Cdn courts released SEVEN ACCUSED KILLERS because they could not get a trial in a fair period of time! The only good news in all this is that LIE-berals are sufficiently ashamed of their colossal Muslim mess that they have cancelled the Khadr bail hearing- no doubt just waiting till the public furor dies away!)

EDMONTON — A hearing to determine whether bail conditions for former Guantanamo Bay detainee Omar Khadr should be eased allowing him unsupervised visits with his controversial sister did not go ahead as planned Thursday.

(LIE-berals do enjoy sending that Khadr boy on journeys! Reporters spot him in Misssissauga and later he pops up in Edmonton! I suppose LIE-berals would call it rude if I were to ask who is paying for all this travel and legal crap? As if we didnt know much of it was from tax payers! Even if the airline tickets are being bought by Khadr- ITS STILL OUR MONEY- thanks to that LIE-beral ten million dollar ward to the goof!)

It was put over to Sept. 15 after lawyers for the Justice Department said they needed time to consult with the federal government.

“The Crown requested an adjournment to receive instructions,” Khadr’s lawyer Nate Whitling said Thursday. “We agreed and the matter’s been rescheduled.”

Khadr is seeking unrestricted internet access and more freedom to move around Canada while on bail pending the appeal of his conviction by a U.S. military commission for five purported war crimes.

(And what does he want to do on the internet? Offer up training and instructions on bomb making to former Al Qaida pals from the old Afghan days? Bomb making is a Khadr family specialty you know!)

Khadr, now 30, has been free on bail for more than two years and notes no issues have arisen since his release.

(No issues other than his desire to contact his vile terror supporting sister and to privately access the internet for purposes he does not care to explain publicly!)

Right now, he can only have contact with his sister Zaynab Khadr if one of his lawyers or bail supervisor is present.

(Great- MORE legal bills for Cdns!)

Several years ago, Zaynab and her mother infuriated many Canadians by expressing support for the al-Qaida terrorist group.

In 2005, Zaynab was investigated by RCMP for allegedly aiding al-Qaida, but no charges were filed. She is now reportedly living in Sudan with her fourth husband, but is planning a visit to Canada. Khadr is arguing he wants to reconnect with his family and is old enough that he can’t be negatively swayed.

Thursday’s hearing is the next phase in a 15-year legal journey for Khadr that has ignited sharp and divisive debate among Canadians over terrorism, human rights and the rule of law.

The Toronto-born Khadr spent years in U.S. detention at Guantanamo Bay after he was caught when he was 15 and accused of tossing a grenade that killed special forces soldier Christopher Speer at a militant compound in Afghanistan in 2002.

(There is no doubt among Cdns that he was a child soldier and that his parents- dead father and vile mother still living in Canada and his poisonous sister have influenced him heavily. But Cdns are disgusted that LIE-berals would be willing to pay him anything- much less ten million dollars! We figure he ought to be grateful we let him back into Canada- instead of shipping the whole family back to Afghanistan and letting them rot!)

In 2010, Khadr pleaded guilty to multiple charges before a U.S. military commission, including to killing Speer, but has since said he can’t remember if he tossed the fatal grenade. He has said he entered the plea to try to get out of Guantanamo, where he says he was mistreated, and into the Canadian justice system.

(This whole business of “war crimes” is a pile of CRAP! The Khadrs fought as part of a guerrilla army against western Coalition Forces- the idiot Yankee vice president Chaney may not wish to recognize Taliban and other Muslims as soldiers but they are seen as such in Cdn eyes! Chaney exposes his stupidity by refusing to recognize that Yankees view Muslim fighters in the same way as British leaders viewed Yankee rebels in 1776! Cdns see the Khadrs as traitors to Canada and as vermin who have rendered themselves as unworthy to be Cdns! We say let them go back to the Muslim World they fought and bled for and leave us in peace!)

He returned to Canada in 2012 to serve out the rest of the eight-year sentence he was given.

Canada’s Supreme Court ruled in 2010 that Khadr’s charter rights were violated at Guantanamo and Canadian officials contributed to that violation.

(A lot of cdns consider that Supreme Court judges who rendered that verdict have proven they are too senile to serve any longer!)

Khadr filed a $20-million lawsuit against the government and last month it was revealed he had settled the case for a reported $10.5 million. That set off a fierce debate.

(This 10,5 million dollar settlement proves-in the eyes of many Cdns- that LIE-berals have NO respect for ordinary Cdns and are shaming themselves by so desperately seeking to BUY Muslim votes so they can cling to power at any price! \by supporting Muslims and the Khadrs this way- LIE-berals have proven their corrupted values render them unfit to form our govt!)

Khadr has said he wants to get on with his life. He recently married and plans to move to the city of Red Deer, halfway between Edmonton and Calgary, to begin studies to become a nurse.

Kadr was tortured therefore nothing he admitted to has any legal validity.

People admit whatever you want them to admit under torture which is why it is such a poor way to gather information, among other things.
