No one is bitching toots. You know idiots sure come up with a lot of 'what if's', it is getting stale. That is tough luck isn't it. The person who smells like a cigarette after going outside for one, is not austracized as badly as some poor little child trying to get some nourishment. OUr nanny state is getting ridiculous, and those that need rules for everything, told everything are getting to be a big pain in the ass. whine whine whine. what is next. Should I go lobby the damn government (therefore waste time and money on something I can deal with myself as a functioning human being) to stop people from eating oranges in public, on the planes, bus stops (good thing I don't frequent busses or park benches), how utterly stupid would that be.
I never read any clause either about what a person can eat pertaining to rights nor did I state that. But you read what you want, if that is how you better understand things. You are probably one of those whiners who think it should be all their way, or no way.
Well a person does have the right to eat what ever they damn well want, that is called a right to life, you fool. (it is called freedom, I know it is hard for a Canadian to know what that is). If they are going to start with bull**** like this, limiting people, then I am going to lobby for the government to stop public perfume use, eating oranges, the stench of cigarettes on a person (I am allergic), lets stop cars the fumes are killing us. Lets just hide in our homes, that is your way of thinking. Pity.
Oh and if I want to bitch about something I will, so if you are talking to me Hitler don't bother, I have no tolerance for tyrants, or those with the...me, me, me attitude. It is what a forum is for, not trolling for attention, or dates, or friends, I have plenty of real ones. It is my right to do anything I damn well want. And I will eat what I want anywhere I want, and so will my kids. Arrest me.
What is next in that head of yours, telling bakeries, they have to put all peanut smelling treats away, because some person might be allergic to peanuts, and might accidently touch some residue? Oh my!!!!!! Carry some hand wash, and sterilize the area if you are that paranoid, that you are afraid to live, or let others live.

It has something to do with equal opportunity and respect. No, it's not a perfect world. We all have to share it with some less-than-desirable realities. A friend of mine who took a couple courses in immunology said one of the working theories is that kids are too clean. Lack of exposure to anything that sparks an immune response means that they end up with a hyper active immune system that overreacts to things. But, that was just one view.

A very reasonable explanation, and possibly/probably the answer as to why peanut allergy was relatively scarce 20-30 years ago.

I remember reading a study comparing rural children to city children in Zimbabwe and the incidence of hayfever and asthma was much higher in the city kids -the rural kids were exposed to pollen, grass seed and hay on a regular basis.

I have a terrible allergy not only to peanuts, but to any kind of nuts - walnuts, hazelnuts, cashew nuts, any nuts. If I eat a nut, I will die. If I touch some food, like a cake, or a chocolate bar, that's got nuts in it, and then accidentally touch my face, my face gets swollen. If I get into the room where nuts are lying somewhere, I have difficulties breathing. That's so inconvenient...

They just found not giving your children peanuts when they are are as young as possible as prescribed by doctors CAUSES peanut allergies, while giving them peanut snacks as young as possible prevents them.

Heard a mother on the radio quite recently talk about how she has educated her child on avoiding peanuts and peanut butter so that her child would be prepared for a world that can not adjust to a single individual.

Thought she was brilliant. Why should the school be responsible for every student NOT bringing peanuts into the classroom in case she ingests them? Why not teach the child to be responsible for herself?

If a child is so allergic that just having them in the classroom is dangerous, then home schooling seems a better option.
