hmm, maybe it should be...
You need to understand. Allow me to mansplain.

See, petros is a scientist, and scientists know that if the cops beat the stuffing outta you, and it later turns out that you committed a crime over ten years ago, you deserved the beating. I know you don't understand that because it's all sciency and you're just a girl, and so you can't understand science, but petros is a scientist, so you should trust his science.

Small town pizza lawyers should know that the news agencies are now saying he was belligerent.

It only took a few hours for his wife to come forward and say he has more issues than TV Guide.

Even small village cheeseburger lawyers know his credibility will be the first thing United's big city steak and lobster lawyers will attack.

Farmboy scientists should know that their prior statements in this thread are still there.

It only took a few hours for his wife to come forward and say he has more issues than TV Guide.
I'm sure he does. And I'm sure you think that means he deserved to be beaten up.

Even small village cheeseburger lawyers know his credibility will be the first thing United's big city steak and lobster lawyers will attack.
Even self-proclaimed scientists know that changing your tune doesn't make your original tune "didn't happen."

Yup and now it's public knowledge he was belligerent.
And public knowledge that you thought he deserved a beating for a decade-plus old crime the cops didn't know about. Cuz as a mail-order scientist, you know about cause and effect.

By the way, being belligerent isn't a crime.

Jesus, what a bunch of liberal snowflakes. This guy was ordered off the plane and he refused. At that point he was breaking the law by refusing the orders of the crew and disrupting the aircraft. He was then ordered off by police, and refused, and resisted. He got what he deserved. Actually, what he deserves is to be charged by police, and then banned for life.

Now do I think United handled this well? Nope. United has a long history of lousy, stupid screwups.

But the bottom line is that if a captain says get off his plane, because he doesn't like your voice, or your hair or he's just in a bad mood, your only legal choice is to get off. Ditto when the cops tell you to move your ass. I don't get how you can be a doctor and still be so brain dead and stupid as to not understand that. Was he THREE? He was acting like a three year old having a tantum. Waahh! WahhH! I don't wanna go! Waaa! You can't make me!

No sympathy for this idiot loser.

The captain didn't say get off his plane. The desk supervisor isn't the captain of the aircraft. The Chicago Aviation Division goon squad isn't the captain of the aircraft.

That might all be true...in some strange parallel universe somewhere, but certainly not in the one the rest of us inhabit.

That parallel universe is the United States of America. The normal laws of sense don't apply. Money is speech in the United States and freedom of speech is constitutionally protected. The police are meant to enforce the law, so obviously they were protecting United Airlines freedom of money. It wouldn't make sense that they are a private security forces of corporations enforcing the End User Agreement. They were clearly defending liberty.

Look, if you stood up and tried to speak and I stood in front of you and screamed in your face, you'd think that was pretty belligerent of me. Similarly, United Airlines was trying to make money (i.e. exercise its right to free speech), and this man refused to allow them. That's belligerence.

Then you should write to United and tell them to stop saying it.

I don't know if it was United that said that or just some misinformation getting out there. It does happen where there is a last minute need to get a crew on a flight somewhere to operate another, and if the flight is full they will be issued a standby boarding pass, I've had it happen often enough. But there will be a notation on the computer in their profile or itinerary something to the effect "DH CREW. DO NOT DEPLANE", and seats will have to be opened up for them.

Wanna see $hit hit the fan, deplane them anyway, that happens too. In fact, I've offered to give up my seat when they've asked for volunteers when I was returning home with no duty scheduled, without passenger compensation of course, (OT pay and other unscheduled overnight compensation is quite substantial), and they won't do it, they're really not authorized to anyway.

Standby pass travel is different, those passengers are last priority, behind pets, bags and freight, flight crew or not. Just watch as the last flight leaves Toronto for Halifax and count the uniformed staff left behind. Been there.

And if he was a cop, he'd break your head, and you bleeding on his uniform'd be assault on a ossifer.

That uniform is government property. I'm quite confident that the second amendment allows me to occupy it for a few weeks with an armed band of inbred backwoods cattle ranchers. Send socks and fruit loops. We're in for a long siege.

Pretty good chance you'd get off, too, seeing as how the Constitution requires you to have a jury of your peers, so the jury would have to be twelve toothless microcephalics.
