There's nothing wrong with 'put America first', it just means you have to get out of all the trade agreements that you've signed. If you become a trade protectionist, you also have to accept that you might not be able to export very much.

No it doesn't... it just means that America needs to have equal benefits from the trade deal.

Given the short attention span of the humanoid.. this issue might fade into the background as he signs a whole group of Exec orders about his pet issues.. the main one being demolishing anything that Obama achieved. the perplexing fact is that Trump has a strange relationship with the truth. Is he a pathological liar.... could be. Either way. his tax returns will probably only surface when the sheeple get pizzed off whit him. Mind you the only criteria he will be measured by is his job creation..His supporters don't seem t give a dang if he pizzes off most of the planet .this making the US even a bigger target for anger.
There is no known reason for him to avoid releasing the returns.. except in his own mind... and perhaps his financial people

If he's avoided taxation somehow are we to judge that a positive or a negative, maybe his exploitation can be replicated by the ordinary bloke.

Tax evasion is a skill not a fukkin crime.

I'm not sure what the law is in the U.S. but the way I heard it (in Canada) tax AVOIDANCE is a skill, tax evasion is a crime. Perhaps someone wiser than I can bring me up to date!

In some cases, yes. It would depend on the product

Trade between countries has been happening since humans learned how to travel between countries. Goods native to one country were welcomed into other countries that didn't have those goods/ (Silk, coffee, sugar, tobacco, spices)
It just doesn't make sense to trade equal products; your beef for our beef, your tomatoes for our tomatoes, your furniture for our furniture.
Trade for equal products makes the financial figures look good and enriches the importers/exporters. But it doesn't do a thing for the ordinary person and in fact hurts because it kills industries.
Canada has the most fertile growing soil in the world yet our fruits and vegetables are imported. Chickens from China? What's the need for that? Beef from Argentina? What need?
In travelling to the U.S. I have seen Canadian potatoes there selling for less that we pay here. What's that about?
Trade deals are badly in need of renegotiating.

I'm no tax expert either but my husband, as a businessman always had his taxes done by a professional. As I understood it, the thing is to claim every deduction and exemption allowed under the law. There are a lot of exemptions and deductions legally allowed that the average citizen is not aware of so it is important, if one's income is large to have a competent accountant who understands tax law.
There isn't much a private individual with only one source of income from salary can do to save on taxes short of outright cheating and that's risky and likely to be discovered.
I think there are many tax loopholes that are legal and yet should NOT be allowed to those in the upper income class. Those who take advantage of such loopholes are not to blame; the law makers who made it possible are the culprits.

House Republicans voted en mass to block a resolution that would have forced Trump to turn his tax returns over to Congress on Monday night.

The measure was introduced by Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-NJ), a member of the House Ways and Means Committee. Under a 1924 law, the Ways and Means Committee is empowered to examine tax returns. The committee could then decide to release them to the full Congress, effectively making them public.

Trump has broken with decades of precedent and refused to release his tax returns, citing an ongoing audit.

Pascrell first brought his request to the Chairman of the Way and Mean Committee, Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX). Brady rejected the request, citing concern for Trump’s “civil liberties.”

Pascrell was able to bring the issue to a full vote on the floor through a vehicle known as a “privileged resolution.”

This is no surprise to me. I see him as a chissler and a crook. He doesn't want any of us to know just how big of a crook he is.

What is the salary of the Potus?

$400 grand!

How many people could follow and understand Trumps tax return even if they did see it - all umpteen dozen pages of it! I couldn't think of another document that would be as boring. Would an income tax return give you the true picture? It's much more concerned with INCOME than OUTGO.
