What is love and compassion Motar? There is a proverb that says, ~ the wounds from a friend are better than kisses from the enemy~ All about perspective. I've known religious people who wear the mask of love and kindness most of my life, only to find out that when others needed a helping hand up, those same people shed their masks and turned the other way. Do not assume that your belief is a qualification for empathy. History has shown the opposite to be true.

That quote from Proverbs is to tell us what is of true value. That "kisses from an enemy" are false, treachery, shallow, flattery, manipulation and insincere. Whereas , the "wounds from a friend" --- These wounds are painful but they are from a righteous source & meaningful because they came from our friend or brother or sister. Appearing religious does not equate to actually being a Christian if that is what you are insinuating. It is actually the opposite of what Jesus taught His followers and disciples. A large part of Jesus Christ's ministry was speaking against the False Religious establishment that was in power in the Synagogues. Jesus accused the so called religious , pious Jews of His time of being false teachers and hypocrites.

In the three synoptic gospels, we find the doctrine of Christ concerning unbelief:

"If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, leave that home or town and shake the dust off your feet." (Matthew 10:14 NIV)

In Luke's accounts, we find the practice of this doctrine:

"Even the dust of your town we wipe from our feet as a warning to you. Yet be sure of this: The kingdom of God has come near." (Luke 10:11 NIV)

Are there some hopeless cases? Are some people beyond redemption and restoration? What becomes of those left behind in the dust?
God knows the answer to whether a soul has rejected GOD -- we do not.
You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. A very brief answer is that according to the Bible , followers of Jesus are to give testimony of Jesus and share the Gospel of Jesus ---at the same time-- it is up to each individual to accept what is being offered, it is a free gift of grace through Jesus Christ. As followers it is our job to plant the seed-- it might germinate on the spot or at a later time. We are also called to pray on the behalf of others.

Years ago, a friend invited me to attend his Bible study. In a dismissive attitude, I quipped, "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink." He replied, "I certainly agree that you can be stubborn like a horse." We both laughed and then he showed me this: "Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you." (Psalm 32:9 NIV) Knocked the stuffing out of my dismissive attitude. So grateful to God to this day that he did : )

By striving to be a decent human being. The message is everywhere, in all religious and spiritual teachings. No religion has a patent on it.
