The ultra right wing christian movement is behind many of the problems of America
They are prattling on about the end times and if there is a serious war the rapture will
save them. There are those in cities wanting to make it illegal to house or feed the
poor so they will move on I suppose Or perhaps let the church take over their lives
and preach to them who knows
Jesus didn't do that he made it plain help and love were to be unconditional
Many don't grasp that yet. I think the time has come to say alright all churches and
their organizations must be subject to all the laws of the land no exceptions.

The answer to the question is simple. Actual Christians try to live their lives according the teachings of Jesus, or at least those attributed to him.
The Un-Christians are confused, still living in the OT, too busy being judgmental to even hear what Christ had to say.

The OT is clearly a covenant between God and Israel while the NT is a covenant between God and everyone, super-ceding the OT except for the Ten Commandments, although several of them were broken down into one basic commandment in the NT, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Although I prefer the less wordy translation, "Don't be a dick!"

I thought it was the Buddha who said that. I do believe that Jesus must have spent at least part of those "missing" 18 years in India learning Buddhist teachings as many of his were very Buddhist in tone compared to the OT. I also find it interesting that god went from being this jealous, angry, vengeful, psycho mass murderer in the OT to this peace and love kinda guy in the NT.

We need to get rid of the brand of "Christian" who appoints themselves as wardens and determine for themselves who is behaving as THEY believe a Christian should!

Many right-wing Christians vilify the poor, in direct contradiction to the teachings of Jesus. Why the hypocrisy?

In an age where your average Republican politician is thumping the Bible with one hand and trying to strip food from the mouths of the poor with the other, it’s become a sad cliché to point out how little the most outspoken Christians have in common with their charity-preaching, forgiveness-loving messiah. It’s only gotten worse in recent years, with the followers of the man who cured lepers threatening to shut down the government if Obama insists on giving more people access to healthcare.

No Walter see many of the so Called Christian Hating threads are not hateful
they are critical based on some Christian bad behavior. There are other groups
out there too that we are critical of for the same reason.
Why is it that you always play to the worst when it comes to someone being
critical and someone being hateful.
I don't hate Christians I have a family full of them I am critical of visual hypocrisy
and those who distort the teachings that attributed to the Christian leadership.
We live in a secular world and some chose to look on the religious experience
as an oddity in a modern world, then there are those who snicker at the thought
of people living by a book two thousand years old.
What I often find an oddity is some who scoff turn to god when their time of need
comes front and center.
I neither get wrapped up in the trapping of religion nor do I condemn others for
what they believe. But when they become radical and demand government do
what they want when they are given special privilege I question that along with
other things

Why are so many unchristians so easily deceived, Cliffy?
By what? You think you have found the answer and I think you are the one who is deceived. You think that by believing as you do, you have faith when nothing could be farther from the truth. Having belief is a closing of the mind. You think you have all the answers so there is no need to have an inquiring mind. Belief is the antithesis of faith.

I would have to agree in that when you are completely convinced that you have "found" the truth, you may lose this sense of wonder that begins in all of us. Even ole Socrates long ago took the know it alls and systematically broke down their "knowledge" of things. When they came to a point where they admitted that they did not "know", they were then free to grow. It's good to have a sense of wonder. Then we can look at each other as truly equal.

What does any of this have to do with Christ, Cliffy?
