Why Are So Many Christians So Un-Christian?

What does any of this have to do with Christ, Cliffy?
I might be inclined to think that was almost an intelligent question but after all this time of reading your prattle, I realized you have no idea what Christ is. Jesus was a man (may or may not have been a real person) and Christ is something else altogether. BUt you know all the answers so you are not ready to learn something new.
The title is about Christians and your question is a diversion from the topic of the OP.

If the content of your OP does not concern Christ, then it likewise does not concern Christians, Cliffy.

The article is horrible. It begs the question of why "many right-wing Christians vilify the poor." Sadly, we aren't even out of the title before the article falls off the rails. It's a leftist source, and we all know that to them any reasoned political response that does not offer more money for the poor is somehow vilifying the poor.

Most left wingers do not get the simple fact that right-wings also care about the poor. Yes, that includes right-wing Christians. Just because they don't run with all the feel-good fluffy emotional hippie-dippy responses to the world's problems, and instead focus on cold hard facts, that doesn't mean they don't care about the poor just as much as you do.

Yeah. You betcha. Facts you say. Like when many years ago when my sister and her kids were destitute and went to the popular TBN Christian Television station that had telethons weekly raking in millions and were turned away. Thankfully she had family that cared. I see mainstream food banks and organizations helping but certainly not fundamentalist right wing religious nuts. They couldn't care less. Why do I say this,,,because I've seen it with my own eyes.

The last person I think about while considering these posers,,,Is Jesus.

Gene Study: Irish DNA Has Middle Eastern, Russian Roots

Irish DNA originates in the Middle East and southern Russia, from where settlers brought ceramics and cattle as well as the genetic features of brown hair and blue eyes, scientists discovered. Scientists from Belfast and Dublin have analyzed remains found in ancient tombs in Ireland to get a broad picture of migration to the country. They used genetic evidence from the body of a woman who lived around 5,000 years ago and was buried near Ballynahatty, close to Belfast, and the remains of three men who lived between 3,000 and 4,000 years ago in Country Antrim. Based at Trinity College Dublin, the experts traced ancient migration patterns using a method called whole-genome analysis, which examines where people came from genetically rather than at their personal DNA characteristics. Testing confirmed the modern Irish are descended from Stone Age people from the pre-biblical Middle East and migrants from southern Russia.

I agree. Many televangelists and the likes of Joel Olsteen are definitely not walking in the ways of HeyZeus. There are a lot of scumbaggy Christians, but statistically speaking those who do go to church give more to charity and the poor than those who don't.

I think a lot of the animus towards Christians is certainly directed towards the American right wing fundies, and deservedly so. But by the same token, there's a huge number of churches across North America that have soup kitchens 6 days a week. There are many that are involved in the "Out of the Cold" program where they offer up their halls or basements as overnight shelters to the homeless in winter, providing meals and hot beverages.
Those are the kind of Christians I don't have much of an issue with. In fact, despite some of my posts I really don't give a crud what anyone wants to believe. Just don't expect me to respect or tolerate what is essentially their opinion. That's like asking someone to respect and tolerate some idiot who keeps insisting that pigs can indeed fly.

To be honest, if I was going down a road and broke down and became stranded, and there was a church on one side, and a bar on the other side, I'd go into the bar to get some help.

Don't know anything about that mumbo jumbo but many in my family which are thought to be predominately Irish Americans, have very dark, almost black hair, darker skin and green eyes. I wish I could have gotten the green eyes the gals like them better. :).
