The Liberals have a majority of 14 seats, which is a mere four percent of the House of Commons. Why are we calling it a "strong" majority?

I thought the same thing. With the new map, the CPC would have held 188 seats

I believe on the new map the CPC would hold 99 seats...but I'm just going with facts instead of wishes.

The Liberals have moved so far left that they are a credible alternative to the NDP as evidenced by this election.

That means both parties can take turns overthrowing the conbots.

So you are a band wagoner? You do realize Libs and Cons have a nearly identical vision for Canada. You and the rest of the NDP lunatics are now the odd men out.

Well, if the right wing really has been decimated in Canuckville, I guess we will have to get used to flying in a circle in the other direction. :/ We will still get nowhere.

That would be turning back the clock. AKA regressing.

THe dippers never have been creditable.SImply a place for the disgruntled to park their protest vote. Never will be credibly. So to move left of them would mean loosing all credibility.

No, the Liberals have little in common with the current Conservative platform.

They recognized the country was swinging left and they took advantage of the opportunity.

Conbots can continue to bark all they want, but it will be a tiny, insignificant and powerless whimper from the back end bywaters of this country for the next 3 years.

Enjoy!

Weird, isn't it? The usual left/right split doesn't apply. In some ways we're much more conservative, with our relatively stingy social benefits.

Other ways we're vastly more liberal. We don't criminalize speech, we let people pretty much own what guns they want. I knew a guy who was a Border Patrol officer on the Canadian border. He always said that he envied the way the Canadian border folks just had a stack of blank warrants they could just fill out and execute, no fuss, no muss, no judicial review.

I think the way to think of it is that we're less statist than Canada.

So lets get this straight, Lib plans of investment into western Canadian infrastructure funded by resources which was carried forward by Harper with the addition of a trade deal to seal the deal on our future differs how? One wants to budget the costs while the other wants to use taxes and debt to pick up the pace differs how in the end goal?

The government's nick is far higher under the Liberal plan.
