Then obviously she doesn't think very highly of Canadian citizenship or being a Canadian.

As a Muslim mother who never saw a niqab when I was growing up in Karachi, Pakistan, I am astonished to see Canada’s judiciary caving in to Islamists who have nothing but contempt for Canada’s values of gender equality.

I write this as a Muslim Canadian who does not have any specific political leanings.

But in the 25 years I have called Canada home, I have seen a steady rise of Muslim women being strangled in the pernicious black tent that is passed off to naïve and guilt-ridden white, mainstream Canadians as an essential Islamic practice.

Religious tolerance has always been one of Canada's greatest assets and attractions for immigration. The ruling was correct and sends a message t any racists that may want to subvert Canadian values for their own political agendas.

The niqab has nothing to do with religion. It is a cultural thing. There are many Muslims that have stated just that. Read the last article I posted, written by a Muslim woman that was born and grew up in Karchi.

I agree 100%. It's basically about subjugating the women. Look how women are treated over there after all.

Riiight. As opposed to forcing women to be subservient? Treating them like chattels? Yep, it's always nice to see women's rights take a step backwards in the name of religious/cultural "tolerance".

Jesus.

Yep, resort to the smart *** reply when you got nothin'. Now that you've made your pathetic attempt to deflect the issue, please enlighten us on how wonderful and tolerant we are for allowing the subjugation of women in the name of cultural/religious tolerance.

Pretty quick tap out. I understand. It's hard to justify misogyny without coming across as a total dick.

There's no misogyny in letting someone speak with a thin piece of fabric on their face in a setting where there is no identity or security requirement.

Trying to make a law that stops someone from doing such a benign act is just petty, and there's not even one shred of doubt that the Conservatives will lose this fight.

From a legislative standpoint, it truly is the easiest call to make.

Do you want to make $10K? I'll pay you $10K to run past the X-ray machine, through the metal detector, and go sit in a courtroom and refuse to take off you toque when the baliff brings you into the courtroom from the holding cells.

If you walk with no charges, I give you 100 $100 bills.

Deal?

Northern Ontario,
So becoming a citizen of this country is not important enough to show your face, less important than getting a driver's license.
If someone needs a passport to get into this country...photograph and everything isn't it important to make sure that the right person is becoming a citizen...?
Or did that bump on the head prevents you from logical thinking?
