Tell that to the families of all the mass murders. How about the two honor guards that were murdered by a loony toons in the parliament buildings? Had they been armed one or both would still be alive.
Have you any idea of how small our mass killings are as compared to those elsewhere??? The mass killings here in Canada, would not have been averted by everyone carrying guns. In fact, there would have been thousands of yearly shootings because more guns were available to whomever applied for one. To be shot in the back, would not have provided the opportunity of shooting back, so we don't really want to go there do we??

Do you or do you not want to live like they do in a third world country.......you know shoot first and hope there is not more armed and loaded to shoot back?

Northern Ontario,
Liberal ideology is funny that way.
They also compare us to the US because we have less homicides than the US....
Well ladies and Gentlemen.....we always had less homicides than the US, even when the laws were similar..
And registering long guns then removing that registry hasn't changed a damn thing....

Aren't we naturally going to have fewer murders than the U.S. just for the reason we have 1/10 of the population? :)

Per hundred thousand we have less.......always have.....demographics, gangs, living style and several other factors are more pertinent than just guns......A gun is just an inanimate instrument....of death, if you will , but without someone holding it....it is harmless!
But the scare tactics of the anti's seem to work more on the politicians here than in the U S of A
But the fact that Harper repealed the gun registry seem to anger a certain Quebecer more than anything else he has done....

Do you have a link to those statistics?

So sorry Bluebyrd, if you can't provide a link, I hereby declare this assertion of yours null and void.

hhmmm We have about a dozen here, so I guess that means that our chances of being homicided is about 840%. Interesting

Well you can declare/believe what you want, doesn't change the facts.

Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence – Gun Law Information Experts

You will notice that the risk of death by homicide increases to 90% by having a gun in the home, and those in possession of one increases 4.5 times more likelihood to be shot by one.

Your link references a Keller study that was debunked many different ways. IF you are interested in how the study was debunked, then click on this link: Debunking the '3 times more likely to be the victim' myth -- reprise - Democratic Underground

The reading is a bit dry but it clearly spells out why the kellerman study was poorly put together and why it should not have made the conclusions that it made.
